Trail damage? Oh, you mean when I bent my ADD tube, then bent the front diff mounting brackets, then blew 4 CV's because of the rolled diff, then busted a tie rod on divorce rock, and also managed to bend a King coilover? Then I finished the trail in 2wd lo/lo because I was out of CV's and couldn't get Stevens to fit correctly? Luckily he had stubs I was able to put in. Then I drove 300 miles home at 75 MPH after a quick parking lot eyeball alignment? Yeah, it's a super fun trail. All of us had a smile on our face the whole time even with that tiny bit of trail damage. lol

Yeah. It was a good one. I couldn't tell the diff was rolled and the ADD tube was bent till I got home. It's hard to see if things aren't level and parallel when your in a rock garden. Once I got it into the garage I saw it right away. Rolling the diff higher on the passenger side caused that CV to have almost an extra 1" of droop. That is very bad. All but one of the broken CV"s occurred on the passenger side.

I was able to get it all fixed in a few hours and for a 50 dollar diff a buddy grabbed for me. Since then I've put on limit straps and went to RCV CV's. I have a lot of hard crawling on that set-up and haven't changed a CV in 9 months. lol

Yeah I remember you talking about how limit straps even on a mid travel setup can be really useful, seems to be key in not over extending the CVs. One of these days I'll get some RCV axles and stop messing around with these cheap aftermarket ones.

Give me another year to run them. I used to really like the idea of having the weak link in the CV. After changing about 12 of them I finally just said fuck it. I talked to a few buddies and we all think the next weak link will be the stub shaft. So, I became the guinea pig. I plan to wheel hard all summer. After this years Dusy trip I'll pull the diff and remove the ADD tube so I can look at the stub shaft. The big question is can the stub shaft take the torque. I have a crawlbox so if it survives my rig and my wheeling habits for a year I'd recommend them. If the stub shaft does shear or twist I already talked to RCV about making 4340 stub shafts. They are willing to do that. All I need to do is send them a stub shaft to duplicate.

Saturday, June 08 - Palomar Divide
    Time: 10am
Meetup Location: Chevron, 31669 Temecula Pkwy, Temecula, CA 92592

    Interested so far: @OR4x4 , @bprout , @SoCal_Erik , @Trah

** NOTE: As of this afternoon, the Rangers still have this closed and advised to call Friday afternoon for the last update that we can reach them in the office. If it remains closed for Saturday, we have options of diverting to Lusardi Truck Trail, Upper Santa Ysabel, Indian Flats, Ocotillo Training Area, or skip it altogether and go check out the infamous Metal Sculptures in Anza Borrego. Three of those are "in the area" and are 2WD friendly. The metal sculptures are literally right off the pavement ( stretched over a few miles ), but there are a bunch of them to check out. The Ocotillo Training Area should be accessible by 2WDs and you should be able to get around most of the area from what I understand. The only one of those five that I've done is Indian Flats which, although easy, doesn't even have payoff for decent views. So, we're a go and we'll get off the dirt one way or another.

So I see that there's another page on the doc about this run... but that now leaves me wondering who is setting up the first run on the Doc... the run on July 6th.

Not sure, I put my Palomar Divide run first since it's "next up" date is the closest to today ( this weekend ) and I put my name under it lead as the organizer. Maybe those that are updating the doc should add themselves as the organizer an be listed as such in the participants list somehow? Mine is just an example of how to ID the organizer.

Those statues are wicked. Used to ride through Palomar, down Mesa grande, to have lunch in Julian, then we check out some of the statues before heading home. Wish I had the picture with our bikes lined up in front of the eagle statue. I may be in.... wife said mother in law is coming Saturday.

I like the idea of putting the organizers on the run info. I think those people should be the ones that (mostly) do the editing and add info in the doc, so it doesn't get too crazy with everyone adding in info.

I went ahead and put Ryan and I as the organizers for the MJT, and @n6vmo as the organizer for the Gorman area run.
