    Absolutely.

He had to be an ATC at one point. Most pilots that I've flown with, were never that good on the radio.

    Used to.

That guy is just exceptionally good with ground control phraseology. Most of the pilots I've flown with excel, in tactical comms and running multiple radios simultaneously.

Two pictures a buddy took earlier today. He has an awesome camera, these low quality downloads from facebook don't do it justice.

Neither. I was back in the pattern flying the hangar queen and trying to get her to stop sucking at life.

Just got to watch a nice looking Corsair take off and go make a couple passes. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any pictures.

Some days it's a treat working right across the street from Paul Allen's (at least used to be anyway) collection of warbirds and tanks at the Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum. Yesterday they were out there firing a 88mm German Flak gun, earlier this week they had a P-47 and P-51 out flying, a few weeks ago before their "Tank Fest" they were out driving around and firing their Sherman tank and crushing a car with the M60 tank they have.

Now that we have commercial flights out of here I can't imagine what people would think if they are coming in to land and see a flak gun pointed at the sky 400 yards off the end of the runway start blasting away.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
Saw one of my former neighbors and he was one of the few pilots who shot down a Mig in RVN -- (up north) ... IIRC, he was flying an A-7 (A-6 was a typo) and is listed on the internet.

He is in his late 70's and now has dementia and forgets what he is saying at times and get confused walking his dog ... very sad to see.

I have never been afraid of anything in my life except 2 things ... burning up in an aircraft and getting dementia as I get older.

It's sad to see these WW2, Korean War and older RVN Veterans fade away now.

PS ... I have another buddy who is 100 years old and was a Mustanger in the US Army ---- (E1 to E7 then W1-W2 then O1 to O5 IIRC) he served in WW2, Korea, and RVN and perhaps a few conflicts in between. Paul is still going strong, has the same girlfriend for 28 years now ... but he is slowing down a bit. He had his 100th birthday party in the same extended living place as his GF lives.

    3FEZgSYERpG430%bHnVIeg.jpg

EDIT ... I got this pic to download ... here is a semi-selfie pic of Paul at his 100th birthday and Margie at his left. Both of their spouses' died about 30 years ago and they met then. Been dating for about 28 years now and both of them now live in the same extended stay facility in Sandy Springs, GA. I used to eat with them many weekday mornings for breakfast.

Margie looked asleep in this pic, but iPhone must have caught her blinking because she is super alert for 98.

It’s pretty cool that you know guys like that. It makes me a little sad that the men of that era are almost all gone.
