Those are crazy high IATs! I don't think I've seen anything over ~140°, even when hot-lapping the Shelby in ~90° ambient temps.

I see around a 5 degree difference between oat and intake air temp when cruising. I normally don't idle for more than 5 mins but I have seen 140ish pre-intercooler in the summer.

 

Oh. So unless we go stroker, that part can stay.

 

Factory one has been proven to make a little over 600 whp and wtq. Planning on going higher? There is only a forged stroker crank available and that is from Brian Crower.

Something definitely needs to be done. The highest idling temps I remember for a Tacoma, we're also from a s/c'd Tacoma. Heat and summer road surface temps just saturate everywhere.

 

I have never heard a plus or minus on this. Where have you heard this information?

 

That's why I've never opened the extra port on my AFE air box to pull more air from the engine bay. Right now it pulls from the fender which I think should be a little cooler than the engine bay. The intake; however, just sits there baking in our TX heat.

I found a new friend to play with me this a.m. on a closed course in a BMW 550. He pulled on me from 60 to 110, but not that fast and then we just cruised. KO2's were seriously humming. Ran at a steady 10 psi for a ways and it all purred just fine. Wish I had been logging. I actually think it ran better in Dallas after that little jaunt. Probably cleaned some things out. Speed limiter ha! HPTuner FTW.

 

I'm curious what material he used.

 

Currently no. As my usages don't shock load the components like drag racing, or dune running.

have you guys checked location of the temp sensor in the grill area I know I had to modify mine when I installed winch/horns/SC and the mount kind of yielded and was very near the radiator/oil cooler lines giving me a temperature delta of about 20F higher bent the mount a little to get clear air from the front and I am running about a 4 deg F delta higher now between ultra gage IAT and ambient.

 

I have not...might be something for me to look at....

 

The temp I'm looking at is part of the MAF.

 

That's what I always thought.... This whole ambient sensor in the grill is news to me.
