I have a 2008 Tacoma Access Cab that has at least 3 gallons of diesel that i need to drain out of the gas tank. Iv tried to cyphin it out but figured their was a screen prohibiting me entry to the tank or possible that i wasnt doing it correctly. Im not sure if I have the mechanical assurance in myself to drop the gas tank in all so was trying to find an easier soft way... or would it be more damaging to try and run the diesel threw til it runs out of fuel completely and clean it with fuel injector cleaner?

Have a friend help you and drop the tank. You can do that, empty the tank of the diesel and refuel with gasoline in a few hours. There are a few good how-to's here on TW about dropping the fuel tank.

Please don't try to drive your truck or dilute the diesel.

Question: is the three gallons of diesel the only substance in the fuel tank?

So, how long has it been in there and has it ran on any diesel yet?
I think if you KNEW it was only 3 gals. and you filled up it would prob. burn on a long hwy trip....just the kind of thing you don't want to take a chance on though.

I'm curious but not even gonna ask.

Is there any place along the fuel line where you could disconnect it and let the fuel pump empty the tank out?

    Yikes.

Drop the tank. Sucks, but IMO it's the only way you're going to guarantee yourself any prevention of damage from running the gasoline-diesel mixture that is in your fuel tank.

There is a way. I don't know if it will turn out to be any easier than dropping tank.
Requires jumping the fuel pump to run continuously.

why would it ruin the whole fuel system?

I could be wrong but I thought the fuel pump would run continuously if the line was disconnected somewhere under the hood, but before the injectors, and the key turned on?

    yes.
And it will not run continuous unless engine is running.
There is a way to unhook the line and jump the signal to the ECU and run it but as I said, I don't know if it's really any easier than dropping the tank.
I'm kind of afraid by already sucking a pretty good snootfull of diesel into the system it may be hard enough to start again even with pure gas so I'm thinking it has to come out now, no diluting.

No, it's made to shut off if the engine doesn't start in case of a wreck.
