Garage Door Opener Mod

I got tired of having my garage door opener on my sun visor so today I did a mod using a momentary switch. Props to @Regnar and @fillsrunner4 for the idea.

Below are the items I used and a link to a YouTube video I made of what I did. It’s my first video so it’s kinda crappy, but shows you basically what I did.

Tips I forgot to mention in the video:

Instead of stranded cable, I used solid wire for the extension. It’s easier to direct through tighter areas

Use electrical tape to tape down the cable every 4-5 inches. It helps keep the cable together and not twist and get into a mess.

You have to start from the switch side and feed the long cable through the blank hole

Those wire connectors are pretty cool. Haven't seen any like that before. Have to give them a try.

 

Made the splitting a whole lot easier for sure.

 

Looks nice. I took the easy way out and bought a mirror with homelink and a compass. Mine was pre wired so all I had to do was pop off the sunglass holder, fish the wire up and plug it in.
