I’ve got my light bar and Cali raised switch figured out. I want to have the caliraised switch light up with my dash lights so I’ve read it’s easiest to tap into the cargo light switch green wire. How can I splice these teeny wires? If I shove it in the green wire connector and put some silicon over it, will it be ok?

I was able to splice my horn wire using solder which is just as thin if not thinner than those wires

No, don't do that haha. Look into posi-taps or scotch locks.

Grew some balls and soldered in. Seems solid and works great.

For the love of God and all things holy, DO NOT USE SCOTCH LOCKS.

I think anyone that uses those things should be thrown in prison. Or at least, castrated. Or maybe get a stern talking-to.

Learn how to solder properly, or use the proper crimp connections, scotch locks will eventually introduce corrosion internally to the wire. Wire insulation is put there for a reason.

Agreed. How would one properly solder into an existing wire?

I just cut the wire, stripped the ends, twisted them together with the new wire and soldered.

So there's a "kink" in the OEM wire now?

    Not if it’s clean.

    Put a sleeve before soldering,
Then heat the sleeve to shrink and will clean up and smoothen out the connected point.

But there's still a gap between the two wires that's an access point for moisture. I personally believe a scotch lock smeared w dielectric grease is a much safer, cleaner, less intrusive method

scotch locks can cut these small wires or will break in 2 years from movement. i used posi-taps and a little dielectric grease (you do know that dielectric grease is to STOP electrical flow )

Hence the term "di-electric" lol. Solder connections can cause their own issues as well. I don't have any issues with posi-taps. Scotch locks are pretty cheesy tho, I'll agree, although I've never ever seen one cut a smaller wire haha.

you'd be amazed that people think that dielectric grease helps the connection and "flow" of power they think its like solder.. and

adhesive lined heat shrink. it'll melt and flow in between the two wires for a good seal

These look pretty clean. Cut up on the tape. Re-tape.

Ever heard of liquid electrical tape. Strip back just the insulation on the wire you’re taping into without cutting the wire. Solder your new connection to the striped section then apply the liquid electrical tape.
