Not gonna break anytime soon, and I Believe it's just valve covers leaking onto exhaust. Seems strong runner no smoke or smell from tail pipe

Obviously the frame being good or bad is going to be the deal breaker. Triple and quadruple check the frame with a 4 lb hammer. Just start swinging away and if you start seeing frame pieces flake off, run. Engine and trans will be relatively cheap to rebuild, but the frame will cost thousands

2g for just the frame itself. If you don't have the tools, time or money to be swapping this thing over to a new frame, wait till you find one with a knoen good frame.

But if it only needs #16 and 6" either side, that's under 300$... And I don't have 7/8k to spend on something

Your call man, if there are only a few minor repairs as the seller/you say there are, its probably a good deal. If you know how to repair most of it yourself, definitely a good deal. If it was me, I would buy this truck and use it for offroading only, but it sounds like you want to daily this thing. If you want it, go for it man, just know there might be more things that need fixing than you think there are.

True, but these trucks are known to have very bad frame rot to the point where the truck folds in half. And this thing has 300k miles. Thats about the expected life span of the truck before any major rebuilding needs to take place. You may be lucky and get it to 400 or 500k miles. We just don't want to see you spend 1500 bucks on a money pit and end up spending another 7-10k in repairs. Good luck with it if you do buy it.

Yeah if it ends up being a pile, just cut your losses and sell it for whatever you can to get some of your money back. Can't really go wrong for 1500 unless its litterally rusting to pieces

Welcome to the forum. That truck would be a hard pass for me. Sounds too risky to bother, even for $1500. Sounds like your mind is made up though. Just know that these frames rot from inside out and can be potentially hazardous to you and others if/when they fail. Especially on the road. Based on what I've seen and read, I'd wager that frame isn't long for this world. Personally, I'd continue to save money until you can purchase a truck that is in better condition and that will not end up costing you more money later on.

    No, I'm still debating.
The guy is available Sunday and Monday or before 10 am, so I'm gonna think on it and keep searching while I do.
