Just a bunch of old crap
What's the ladder system on this thing? Does it store in the tent? If so, doesn't that affect closing the lid with too much bedding inside? Also, with clips on both the head and foot end, how awkward is it to close it back up with 1 person?

Edit* - I see it's one of those hand crank tents for setup. How's the sacrifice of it not being tall enough to sit up in? I think I saw 34" as the tallest part of the tent from mattress to ceiling.

I don’t have any pics of the ladder but it’s just a two piece telescoping aluminum ladder with hooks on the top that hook on to the edge of the tent. Autohome says you can store it in the tent and it comes with a storage bag but I found it’s easier to just throw it in the bed of the truck.

The lift mechanism on the Maggiolina series is crank operated so the clips really don’t do much but add some additional pressure to the seal around the edge. Closing it with one person is super easy because you can crank it down until there’s about 6-10” gap and then go around and tuck all the material in then finish cranking it down.

God I love having a bed outlet. Anyone find any alternate hardware they’ve used instead to go in the rails? Bolt stripped it.

Im surprised you could run that on the stock inverter. The one in the GX is only 100 watts, the tacomas is what, 400?

Yeah I've run an angle grinder off my bed outlet and it kept cutting out.

Hmm to my understanding its 100W with the key half turned. But then can provide 400W when you turn on your truck.

Mine did not cut out at all. Was your truck running when trying to?

    Yeah.
Tacoma outlet is 100W while moving, 400W while parked (engine running). Anything pulling over 3.5 amps is gonna be sketchy.

I use a vice grip to clamp to the exposed portion of the bolt and then ratchet the nut off. I stripped out my slide rail hardware the first day putting the tent on...

How sturdy are these rooftop tents? It seems they wouldn't be too sturdy being that portable and off the ground.

National Luna touch lights installed.under each side of the tent. Overhead bed lighting complete. 3 brightness levels each in both white and amber. A nice little amount of side light spill-over to the ladder area and also under the awning. Wiring all ran secure under the netting from the tent power line.

The 2 rear tailgate lights are different cheapie Amazons but I may switch them to these, too.

I've used it to run one of the Harbor Freight pancake compressors to air up before. It kept running and never had an issue other than taking more than 45 minutes to air up all 4 tires from 8 psi in the snow.

Lots of dollars and no sense...
Recently joined the ranks of the mobile tent life. Spent a night and counting the days until I can get back in it!

I need some help though. My girlfriend and I struggled with multiple expletives tossed around getting the thing off the cap of my truck. Add a leaf and let the air out of the air bags. We are both vertically challenged, but not short people. Anyone find a trick or tip to help ease the process. I can't pull into my garage with it on and use the pulley system I've seen. Any help at this point would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!
