Whatever, disc, no disc, it's beside the point....

I'm happy with drums in the rear, as are many other tacoma owners. Never once have I said to myself "Man it would be nice to have rear disc brakes"... the truck brakes perfectly fine. Plenty of stopping power. Never overheated them, and they last a really long time. I have nothing complain about, so using disc brakes as a selling point for other trucks is irrelevant.

As for Gladiator, I think it's a sweet truck. Much better than the bland Ranger... more style/character, and good functionality. Only problem areas are cost and Jeep reliability/quality. At the end of the day, I still think Tacoma is the best all-around midsize truck option. It's the benchmark.

If you trade every 3 yrs resale value is important. Tacoma has it. Will the Ranger?

Right, maybe I misunderstood what I quoted you on as it seemed like you were comparing a Ranger and a Frontier with each other, I am fine with the brakes on my truck too.

I love my 2016 limited. When I bought it I wanted a mid size that would fit in my garage, be easy to park in Austin, hitch haul my dirt bike, tow my boat, and most importantly, get me to work every day. I liked it before OV tune but after running 93 base tune, I love it. Yes, it may void your warranty so the choice is to hate a vehicle with a warranty or roll the dice and void that warranty - and love the truck. I chose to be happy now and love my truck.

A number of years ago, swapped out all of our crew and work trucks (non dump) with F250, F350s and F450s all with the Scorpion 6.7 diesel.

12 of the 15 trucks ended having to have their left cylinder heads replaced (long story and TBF, ford sent a tech to our shop to help diagnose the issue - which eventually led to a TSB and a re-design), plus we had a myriad of other issues. I was a member of Powerstroke.Org and while I posted about our experiences, I did not ridicule or bash other forum members who loved their trucks. When we sold off our fords, I stopped hanging around the forum. I did not stick around and crow about how much better luck we were having with our Rams and the Cummins.

That's the difference between being human being and being forum troll.

Now we've all fed the troll. Let's just let him starve.

On a related note, I finally watched Buckaroo Banzai last night. Not sure how I missed that one for so long.

I would say that it's every bit as entertaining - and makes about as much sense - as this thread. 5/7 would recommend.

I think next road trip I will try to use S5 on the hilly areas and see how that does. I like my truck a lot. It has modes to use for certain driving situations. I have also been looking at ShiftSense Pro, looks like a cool unit for different driving automatic modes while keeping everything stock as well.

I tend to keep my vehicles on average about 2 yrs... so resale is very important. I test drove a Gladiator the other day, while it was a nice truck, I know that 65k sticker price is gonna plummet as soon as I put some miles on.

But with my Tacoma, I have had it 11 months, put 7800miles on her, and I could still sell her for close to what I paid. Tacoma ftw

Yeah, that’s nuts. Luxury price without luxury customer service or luxury quality.

    A few.
Why only 2 years? Sounds like you would be a good candidate for a lease with the miles you put on.
