I am planning on using 6 or 8 KC Cyclones as rock lights.

I was wondering if anyone has some mouning pics or ideas for me. I have seen it mentioned that a few people have used magnets fitted onto the lights somehow and then just stick them to the frame, so I'd be interested in that ... if it works well, doesn't, etc.

Finally, I'd be going with white, but they offer clear and diffused lenses. I'm guessing I'd want diffused, but any advice on that would be appreciated.

    Thanks very much!

Rago makes a mount for them. I believe they’re universal.

I'm running 2X diffused white cyclone lights as underhood lights. For the rock light application, I definitely recommend diffused over the clear lens offering.

Thanks for the link, I hadn't seen those.

I do like the magnet idea if they stick well enough and mount well to the light. Regarding the magnet link you sent, what are you using for the 'male' side? A bolt with a large enough washer to keep it from sliding through the cyclone?

Neodymium magnets are very strong, those are rated to hold 75lbs, they should have no problem holding a rock light in place. I haven’t tried them yet though, I’m currently using Cyclones for a tent lighting project where there is no steel, probably be a while before I get to mounting rock lights for under vehicle lighting. I came up with the idea when doing this thread and saw that other lights have a magnetic mount option, but I would want to use the KCs and was thinking about how to mount them:

Yes, an appropriate sized washer with a nut to secure the Cyclone to the magnet.

That sounds good, thanks for the info!

Is everyone using standard butt and bullet connectors for underneath the truck, or waterproof connectors of some kind?

Here are some pics of the rago mounts and lights. I used 4 rago mounts, 2 up front and 2 in back. I made 4 custom mounts for under the cab due to the rago mounts not working so well. Ill post more pics of the ones I made when i get a chance. I have 4 extra rago mount i didn't use if you would like to buy.
