OEM Camera Connection below Dash

Nope, never heard anything from forum members. Sounds like you're planning on doing the same thing I am. It's still cold and rainy in my area so I haven't taken the time to get under there to take a closer look. If you find out the part numbers please post them up!

 

Awesome thread. I have a 09 with tailgate camera and wiring but not the fancy mirror. So I will order the double DIN dash piece and a head unit that states it has rear camera capability and hopefully without too many cuss words get everything hooked up BTW what the hell is a Vampire connector?????

 

TRD2010SpeedwayBlue finally cut the red wire in the mirror and the camera is only seen on the radio, now I have another problem I have a tundra mirror 2012 that brings the buttons to open the garage doors but when you mount it you can not see the monitor on the radio I will have to pull the cable directly from the camera so that the camera can work when it is reversed and can be seen on the radio

 

oh damnnnn. glad ya cut the red wire to get the cam off the mirror!

 

As I wrote now, I still need to be able to work out the buttons on the mirror and see the image on the radio at the same time

 

search around as i have seen the mirror AND the radio on at the same time.

 

I just picked up a Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX along with the Maestro RR and T01 Harness. I have an 09 without JBL. Do I ignore the Maestro diagram and just go from the HU to the underdash camera connection or do I use the Maestro wires and run those to the underdash camera wires?

The Maestro Harness has the following:

Blue/Yellow - Camera power (+)
Black - Ground (-)
Yellow - Video(+)
Brown - Video (-)

 

Another successful oem camera splice here. 2010 with an alpine ilx-207. Nice and clear, no issues at all

 

OK, so I did the backup cam mod today. And it worked first time. Thanks to all who helped with this. I used the two modular connectors behind the coin box to do it. No headliner to mess with, no kick panels, etc. The hardest thing was getting the wires all pulled through. It's getting kinda crowded behind there. Used a shielded cable as shown in the photos above to get into the bottom connector. Used the red wire in the top connector as the reverse trigger wire. I just used a tap for that one. This not only gives me very good resolution, but instantly comes on when reverse is engaged. It also works to simply view whats behind if you are towing or something. BTW, I did not disconnect the mirror cam when I did this. It doesn't matter to me that it also comes on when in reverse.

I did all of this with stuff just laying around the basement. Zero cost. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE GREAT INSTRUCTIONS AND ALL OF YOUR HELP!!!

 

Another successful one . Thanks to Toy4me for helping me out and the op . Make sure you have good strong GROUND. This was one of the issues I ran into before it worked.

In preparation of this weekend's install of my Pioneer DMH-1500NEX, I dug through my box of old A/V cables and found a suitable donor RCA Video cable.

I wanted to contribute a bit by showing a few details in constructing a cable referenced by the OP:

1. Cutting the outer cover down the middle
2. Use shrink tube to manage and add bulk to the wire strands
3. Added some structure to the wire at the crimp point with solder
4. Crimping on the male pin connectors
5. Finish with some more shrink tube
6. Test continuity with a multi meter

The cable I used -- I would describe as a medium quality cable. It is designed for video work, better than the stuff that comes with older A/V equipment, but it's not "high-end".

 

Does anyone have a part number for that connector? Both the male and female side?

I simply dug through some connectors that I had in a bin. I used the male pin from this kit...

They do require a special crimper.

 

Yea, I have some pins from other connectors, I'm actually looking for the plastic connector itself, I don't want to mess up the factory one so I was going to make my own connector going to my Dasaita head unit..

What are you using for a micro bypass for the ebrake with your 1500NEX? Any recommendations ?

Corona-bored so I'm going to go at this shortly on my 2011 TRD Sport (finally) to my Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX.

Ill be attempting the driver-side coin box (video like the OP) + glove box (reverse) method it would seem.

Any tips for my specific truck?
