I cant imagine the state is that backed up to process, so you either got someone lazy at the dealer, or they got it and lost it. It happens, especially if it is a big dealer. You didn't say if it was new but since it is a '10 I figure it is. I wouldn't sweat it, are they re issuing your temp tag? Is it a dealer? You can take it back if they can't get you a plate as well, but you probably don't want to, haha. Just threaten to take it back...I bet they get off there butt, or call the license place I bet they could tell you something.

Just call your local DMV and tell them what happened.

Dealer will usually turn in paperwork for the truck to DMV and then plates are sent from DMV, not dealer. At least that is how I have seen it done in CA and CO

Sure in tx I think dealer is required to provide plate on new car.

yeah i agree....since your in houston, which dealrship did you go to?

Fort Bend Toyota? (i got my truck there)

Sterling McCall? (right off 59 i believe)

And theres also Mike Calvert near the reliant stadium.

When i went to fort bend we got it in under 3 weeks, it definitely was not longer than that. Maybe you can contact another dealership and see if they can sort out the plates problem? Just an idea lol...

OH! And dont forget , contact DPS maybe they can help as well.

Here in CA the state will send you the plates, and registration papers directly to your house. I'm not sure why TX would do it like this, but maybe it's for a perfectly good reason?

I guess you can contact the DMV for your state, and see what they say on the issue. I'm sure they can grant you an extension if needed, or they may investigate it themselves and I'm sure they will force them to get it done.

But I'm not sure why they would have an issue with it? Do they have to pay for the plates? Or they are too lazy to send the information off to the DMV?

Sounds like a wacky system to me.

You have a dealer who is just procrastinating on turning in your paperwork. They usually send someone to DMV once they have a bunch to do at once. Keep on them daily and they will get tired of you and turn in your paperwork.

I bought mine at Carmax and they already have premade plates. So I drove off the lot with my plate.

Man you guys have a system there. When I got mine they had a stack of plates. Bought insurance registration and plates right at the stealership. They installed them and I drove away. Man if I bought a truck down there I'd be thinking what the hell? 6 weeks? Make work project.
