Made a little progress after pressure washing the frame this morning. Cut some shit off.

Welded some smaller shit back on.

Then removed the shocks, did a little frame cleaning for welding and glued the new upper shock mount cross bar in place. The actual shock mounts are not welded yet.

$95. Dunno what a machine will do. Thats usually a tranny flush thing. Usually with coolant they just drain the radiator and the block then refill.

Anything but black. Gunmetal looks good with certain setups imo. Silver looks good on pretty mich anything.

they are supposed to be flushing whole system including through heater core for about an hour

never had the whole system flushed to best of my knowledge, (just drain, fill and one water pump) so there is probably 22yr old coolant molecules in there somewhere

It's strange. I have these 5-stars on both the 4Runner and the Taco and I think they look extremely sharp on the 4Runner, but only meh (a bit out of place) on the Taco. Got me thinking - why?! I mean, both trucks are green, they have essentially the same shape, etc.

Then it hit me - the 4Runner still has all it's OEM chrome. Front and rear bumpers, fender "trim," etc. The Taco doesn't - all that other silver stuff on the truck (with the exception of the door handles) has been replaced by black steel.

So, I think I like the darker wheels on the Taco b/c the silver just looks out of place on the (now much darker) truck.

I think they look great on both, but I've never been partial to the Stealth 6s in the least so maybe that's what's throwing me off. Now if your stealth 6s were gold Ray's or f5s then those silver 5 stars would have some competition

Yeah the Stealth 6 is probably my least favorite SCS wheel. Ray10 being my favorite.

im ONE of those people. It’s only dented but I did just install the AAL and axle relocation plate... Now that the leaf springs are taller the dent will be worse soon.

    good idea.

Finished welding the cross member in place and capped the ends. Done for today, u-bolt flip tomorrow and then I'll start working on the shock mounts.

I suggested gunmetal too but he told me he's partial to bronze.

Been a rough few weeks and finally came to wits end yesterday while at work and said screw it and left without a word for a long lunch break. Went out in the pouring rain and hit a trail to clear my head. Definitely enjoyed getting out and running thru the mud and rain for a while. Didn’t get a pic but had to go under a fallen tree with only a hair width between the top of my cab and the tree. 42A5F2C2-35E0-4221-9C87-C21BA953A0AB.jpg

Last change to the vehicle was pulling the steering column to tack weld the slip shafts, no more clunky noises and wandering all over the highway. Drives like a new vehicle! I drive WA 195 from Spokane to Lewiston ID and back weekly, accurate steering is a definite plus. Thanks to all those who went before me and figured out the process.
