SWR readings over 3.5 on all channels

I recently installed a President Andy CB radio with a 4 foot firestick antenna.

Wired it up good and during SWR readings, I’m getting over 3.5 on both channel 1 and 40. Tuning the antenna does nothing on that reading. I can’t figure out what’s going on

This is where the antenna is mounted, using 18 foot Coax cable routed under the truck into the cab. Cable isn’t coiled or obstructed.

 

Doesn’t look like you removed any paint to ensure a good ground, also did you install the nylon washer correctly?

 

The paint shouldn’t be an issue, I have a stud mount on a powder coated bracket and have zero grounding issues. It doesnt look like he has the nylon washer on there. I get 1.1 and 1.3 SWR on 1 and 40

 

I’ll double check the washer. But you mean removing paint on the bed stiffeners?

That is not correct. Washer isolates ground and power. Must remove paint
