Anyone interested in hitting up Mission Trails at the end of Clairemont Mesa Blvd on Sunday. I'm thinking about noon or 1.

I guess I'll just go down and see if I can find anybody. Never been there so I should check it out anyway.

Yeah, I went down there. Didn't find anybody but it was a nice place to check out. I would not have been fun to ride with anyway, the hills kicked my butt.

Yeah... I'm just getting back into shape after a several year hiatus. I rode with a friend last weekend and thought I was going to have a heart attack, wheezing at the top of a few steep climbs.

I go to the gym 5 days/wk and thought I was in pretty decent shape but that first hill going up from Colina Dorada taught me otherwise. I only made it about half way up and had to resort to the walk of shame.

New here, just stumbled upon this thread.

I'm riding the bench for another month at least after breaking my collarbone in late Feb.
Looking forward to getting back out there.

Anybody ride Carrizo Gorge recently ?

Welcome to TW. Nice choice in color on your truck;). Ouch... broken clavicle! I know how that feels. Broke mine really bad in college while skiing. That strap that pulls your shoulders back... cuts off your circulation. Good luck with your recovery. Never done Carrizo Gorge. I’ll have to try it soon.

Come to one of our Thursday night brewery meet ups...

^Thanks man, I'll have to check that out one of these days. For now A&P school sucks up all my weeknights but summers coming.

Had to get the clavicle plated. Pre shaped stainless plate and a bunch of fasteners. That was a medical miracle, you feel like superman 2 weeks later. Haha. It's false security though, easy to screw it up if you lift or bear against it too much before your bones fuse properly.

Carrizo Gorge looks like a pretty mellow XC/fitness ride..definitely going to be trying to ease back into it conservatively. I need to be smarter out there. Not 16 anymore! :/

I never went. I'll plan another one. I'll reach out to you when that happens. Company is always better. Makes you try harder IMO especially if you're not in the lead. LOL

I did Carrizo Gorge many years back. That was a great ride. LOVED IT. If you plan to go, take your night riding lights for the tunnels. YouTube it. My video should still be up. It's a long ride going in because of the slight uphill but the return takes less time.

I think I saw your video. Looks awesome!
Someone up in Big Bear was telling me that they had guided some MTB tours and that was one of the scenic rides that everyone loved, but it was no longer viable for some reason. I've heard something about the tunnels collapsing from someone else. I'll go do some recon here at some point.

Carrizo is still doable but at least one of the tunnels is now blocked due to a collapse and has become a hike-a-bike section. If you've never done it it's worth checking out just for the trestles and views. If you are familiar with the Otay Lakes area the flowers are in full effect right now and even the boring trails are worth the time...

Rode up in Arrow Bear yesterday Santa's Village and highly recommend taking the trip up there. I'm heading up again on the 12th if anyone else ends up there let me know and we'll meet for a beer...

^ Skypark @ Santas....that place looks sick, I bet you had a blast. I haven't been yet, but watched a lot of footage on YT.
I was going to go over winter break, but the storms actually hit them pretty hard and was waiting for the conditions to improve. Then I busted my collarbone...
I actually rode yesterday for the first time since 2/22. Keeping it mellow but looking forward to getting up there, hopefully this summer.

P.S. is your avatar one of the Carrizo tunnels??

They did get hard this year but they spent a lot of the downtime setting trails and building structure so conditions are great now. The tunnel is actually the "Reward Mine" entrance...

Nope. I will be in the Alpine area tomorrow to take the Tacoma to the helicopter pad. It's been a long time since I've been there. Want to go?
