Yup, about 1 mile in on Black Mountain, the gate was locked a few groups turned back. The motorcycles went the other way down Upper Santa Ysabel after a buggy confirmed that USY was very tight with no passing sites and tight vegetation.

We headed for Lusardi and was great. 4 small water crossings ( dragged my shackle on one ), had to coordinate at the top with our 3 Tacos and two 4Runners turning around, and then navigating past two groups of two heading up while we were going down along with a few motorcycles. The buggy and 4Runners eventually caught up to us when we stopped for photos. The trail sure was busy. I’ll have photos and video later.

Yup, you would have been fine. It would have complicated getting everyone turned around at the top, but it would hav been doable. Your OR height advantage over my Sport would have kept your hitch receiver clean.

Nah scrapes are great, protects the bumper. Also protects you from suburas rear ending you. Love that hitch, I barely got a tiny dent after that one hahaha

Who would be down for a full day expedition? One of those ones where you leave at 8a & make it home by 8p

9a Pilot@ Rock Trail 2N17x to Arrowhead for lunch by 11:30a, then take rattlesnake canyon down to johnson valley by 3p, cross Johnson ohv & head home by 6/7p

I can't even convince my dog to come on this endurance run lol

From pilot rock trail head to end of johnsonvalley run, let's say where the 18 & 247 meet, I would peg that total route to 80-100 miles

It's too bad the Rincon Truck trail has been closed for the last several years...be a fun/easy trail with great views from all along the top of the San Gabriels.

Now the only offroading in the San Gabriels is Azusa OHV park which is possibly the worst/lamest OHV area in the entire state.

I've been there twice, the first time I told myself I'd never go back and the 2nd time was worse because I knew better lol.

You pay 5 bucks to drive around a bunch of gravel sand to a giant mud pit where kids are bathing and giant coal roalling mud boggers on 42" tires are speeding around like aholes showing off to one another

I could see it being fun if you were there by yourself or just a few friends but its too small of a park without much to do and it's always packed with people

No it's got dirt trails and gravel you can drive around on but it's all contained within a relatively small area. Nothing at all remotely technical. They require 4x4 to get in because you have to cross a ~3ft deep creek right after the entrance to get into the park. Otherwise 4wd isn't needed unless you want to play in the mud pit.
