    Hello everyone,

I finally decided to join up after a while of lurking. I spent quite a while browsing around for a used Tacoma and then TW started popping up in my Google. From there I started reading all kinds of threads and looking over pictures. I spent most of my time looking for used trucks but couldn't justify the price over new.

I have an 87 4runner 22re 5mt that I have been working on for years, 1 owner (grandfather). I had a 2010 tundra 5.7 crew Max that i loved except for the mileage and automatic and so i traded it for a 2016 Accord with cvt for my wife. That left me longing for a different truck.

I knew I didn't want an auto (I despise them). I wanted a long bed and dual cab but they don't make them in a 6mt.... Oh well. Then one day I saw a Cavalry Blue, TRD OR 6MT show up at my dealer listed for 36,500. I talked to my wife and then emailed the dealer. After some emails back and forth I went in, test drove, and purchased the truck. I feel that I got a decent deal at 33,500, then purchased the lifetime warranty and other junk I shouldn't have.

There are things I don't like about the truck. (I'm a picky vehicle person anyway). The trans and drive line is clunky as all get out. The clutch accumulator is about stupid, took me 1k miles to get used to that thing. The gas pedal is too low, can't rev match on downshifts, and the non linear, drive by wire is slow to respond. Despite these things I'm very happy with my truck.

I do like the gas mileage. I have put just over 1k miles in 3 weeks since I use it for work. My first two tanks I got 19.3 mpg average. My third tank I got 23.3 mpg, and I'm averaging 25.5 mpg on my current tank (about 70 miles in)

I plan to make a half inch aluminum spacer for the gas pedal, I have the metal, just need the time.

OVtune may be in the future for linear throttle.

Softopper, it seems convenient like a tonneau but the space of a shell.

Mud flaps, have three good rock chips already.

I want to remove the accumulator but worried about warranty, will continue to ponder this.

6MT and that's your initial mileage? wow. goes to show how much Toyota has changed their factory tune since the 3gens released. my mileage at that time, for example, was 12-14.

i see you've researched. OVT can help your throttle deal, no doubt. don't hesitate to invest. all the MT folk say it's worth it.

    welcome to TW!
