Thanks for sharing that. Probably the most worthwhile read this thread will produce. Vietnam was no joke.

It would be awesome if Consumer Reports knew anything about autos...or consumer research, period.

Their methods would fail a Statistics 101 class.

However, I will still take a look at any Ranger Raptors if and when released.

Why is the 3rd gen forum a catch all for this type of crap?

Look if we all were to be dead honest here, ALL vehicles have a laundry list of tsbs, recalls, 'fixes' safety campaigns, owner gripes that manufacturers/dealer don't recognize, etc. There is no perfect vehicle. Period. This Tacoma vs Ranger vs Gladiator vs ......... can be fun at times but in the end it's all what YOU like and are willing to put up with. The Tacoma vs the world stuff is getting old though. I didn't buy a Ranger. I bought a Tacoma. Let's talk Tacoma's. Not Rangers.

I considered waiting for one. I did like that you could option in a rear locker in the very base trim. And the rear seat was a bit bigger. Other than that, I didn’t like the 2.3L turbo engine nor the auto transmission. If they put in a regular V6 and 6MT, I would have considered it. I liked the old Rangers.

    Ranger vs Tacoma.
What is there to compare ?
I own a 17 Tacoma and work at a Ford Dealership and have seen and driven the new Rangers. Service manager told me I would want to get rid of my Tacoma when I saw them. I still have my Tacoma. Nothing about the new Ranger impressed me including Fords Eco boost engines. They are already having trouble with those things and repairs are through the roof when the warranty is up. I have also heard they have recalls on the new Ranger before they ever shipped. Also hear dealerships dont want them because the real money is in the F150s. The early Rangers were decent trucks but I cant say much for the 93 and newer versions from what I have seen. I used to be a Ford guy when Ford knew how to build decent cars and trucks. Its Toyota now for me.

I was not "talking Rangers" anything, other than someone bashing saying the Ranger is better and I wanted to show them that they were full of it.

    Isn't better an opinion?

All I'll say is that Ford is replacing the sunroof glass free of charge on my wifes Edge because of our relationship with the dealer. So I don't by all bogeyman man on Ford since they've treated my family right while my relationship with the local Toyota dealer hasn't been so rosey. While I have no personal doubt my second gen is the best truck for me, especially since it's paid for and far better than stock for the uses I have for it, I wouldn't scare someone off either the 3rd gen Tacoma or the Ranger. They both have their pluses and negatives. As long as someone is happy with what they own, and when something goes wrong they get the service they feel entitled to in order to stay happy, more power to them.

Even if it did you could still get $8,000 for the Tacoma! Lol
