    Hello everyone!

Im new here and am looking at getting a tacoma. I live in Valdosta, GA. Just went to my local dealer and they have this nice (used) 2018 blue TRD 4x4 in manual. When i took it for a test drive the clutch was very squeaky. Is this a normal issue, an easy fix? Should i be worried? There was also a “minor” carfax accident which was repaired at the dealership. They are asking 35000. Was wondering what you guys thought about it and the car. Any known issues?

Also i am thinking of getting a used 2017 trd (pro) tacoma i saw in tallahassee. Does the red stitching break easily in the chair? I saw a youtube video of it breaking. This time they want 40000. Any dealership tips? Anything i need to know about these trucks? Any help is appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    Michael

Welcome to the forum. $35K sounds like a good price for a Pro. I’d use the squeaky clutch as a bargaining chip. If you like that truck I wouldn’t wait as it should sell quickly.

Sorry the local one is only a trd 4x4 so not really a good deal. However, thank you ill try to use that as a bargaining chip haha.

Very easy fix for a common issue, the clutch pedal sounds like an old barn door, Disc Brake Grease on all the pedal pivot points will take care of it.

Both trucks are expensive, at least $5k over, even with how much tacos hold their value...I would negotiate a 2019 trd OR 4x4 mt new at $35k otd and probably pay $36k

I would not pay 40k for a used pro, you can get one new for around 42 in Georgia, I got mine in Warner Robins for close to that.

Like someone said above, negotiate a new for 35ish or talk down the used 2018. That’s overpriced, especially with an accident.

OP, whatever you end up getting, make sure you get the manual transmission.

What are the options on the 35k manual trans? Sounds overpriced, but details could explain the price.

The Manual is pretty sweet, shifts much smoother than the previous 2nd Gen's.

    35k id buy new.

Squeaky clutch pedal has been an issue on Tacoma’s for a long time. Some good grease fixes that problem.

Without looking up used values, $35k for a used 2018 TRD 4X4 seems pricey.

Welcome! Be patient and you’ll find a good deal. I’d keep looking for the right price on a truck with a clean car fax. That’s just my 2 cents.

    Like, so many.
I’m wondering why someone got rid of such a new truck.

    Good question, indeed.

There are ten to twelve used 2016-18 Tacomas for sale on the three blocks of auto mall we have in this town. Most are Sports and Off-Roads. Prices are like new.

There’s no telling. People change their minds all the time for various reasons. I’ve been there, done that. Traded two previous Tacomas after about six months of ownership each time just to get something else I preferred at the moment. Now I’m back in a Tacoma for the third time around.

Hey just want to say thank you everyone for the replies and help. I will be heading down there again to negotiate.

    Here is the car.

Guess they are asking 34k now. The only thing that worries me is the minor accident on the carfax report. Wouldnt that devalue the car?

Is that the manual trans? Cause it’s says it’s got the push button start, don’t think that’s on manual transmission.

The photo shows a stick shift.

It has a Pro grille. That alone adds like $2,000 to the value of the truck! :D
