Assume nothing, pal. I spent the 3 hours at the dealership and drove 1.5 hours to and from and the ambient temp was ~60 degrees F and yes, they did indeed let it sit for almost all of the three hours before checking it. The trans was cool to the touch when they checked it.
You prove my fucking point that the armchair mechanics on this site are in many cases full of shit!

 

As a former service advisor I would have told you to not inpsect the transmission fluid unless you had a problem or it was due for maintenance. I had 2 long term customers who had transmission failures when their service was due at 70K the transmission lasted to only 40K. And I was able to get the factory warranty to cover the bill.

 

20K miles and for the piece of mind I was after was almost worth the $100 based upon the paranoia created here.

 

Should have listed to you and the two SA's rather than the experts here.
