TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

So, my DT Y Pipe is cracked and broken on two sides where the drivers side exhaust hanger was welded on.

Do any of you guys know if the URD Y Pipe hangs below the crossmember? If it does, it will interfere with my skid that sits flush with the bottom of the crossmember.

The URD site says the crossmember has been updated to now work with both 2x4 and 4x4 Tacomas.

My URD Y-pipe works with my RCI Offroad skid. I even have a lower profile skid that’s for a rerouted exhaust.

 

My URD goes above the crossmember. And I have 4x4.

 

We talking engine oil cooling?

 

Yes sir. My oil cooler sandwich has a thermostat if it means anything.

 

I was going to say, would think if it had a thermostat there would be little danger of over cooling.

 

I think I’ll just stick with the 10 row cooler. Doesn’t need to cool a lot, it just needs to be sufficient right?

I clean mine couple times a year. I use a spray carb/choke cleaner.

 

That sounds like a great idea for a cleaner.
My concern was making corrosion impeding flow.

 

My catch can seems to do a really good job. I empty it every oil change.

 

Any of you guys use Amsoil? I am about to buy 12 quarts after watching some of project farm’s oil test videos. It seems to absolutely destroy mobile 1 which I have used in the past. I figured oil is the lifeblood of our motors and I know everyone here likes to enjoy their blower as do I, so what oil are you feeding your motor to keep it happy?
I am also switching to 10w-30 from now on.

 

I was thinking next oil change to go that way too. Using Valvoline synthetic at the moment.

 

I agree. I'm sure this residue is from the time before I owned the truck. Think the catch can was my first mod.

QuakerState full synthetic also appears to be a very good oil by the video I have watched. The amsoil isn’t cheap, but I have seen it used in some cars that get absolutely abused, in particular a mustang that is heavily boosted and a 8.5k rev limiter thats been banged on the track often. His stock motor is holding on, I am sure the oil plays at least a little part in that.
