Fishing seems fun, never learned. I get the basic principle is stupid simple, attach hook/sinker/bait to line cast/crack beer/repeat. I'm guessing there is a lot of finesse and knowledge about when/where to fish what type of lure/bait, oh and what to do with the fish if you are successful. Supposedly I get a discounted fishing/hunting license here in CA as a disable vet (already have lifetime free National Park and free lifetime State park access).

I really want to learn to spearfish, that looks super fun.

My grandpa used to take us fishing in Missouri as kids...a friend of his had a pond on their property with a bunch of catfish in it. We'd go out there with a handful of dry cat food and throw in it in the pond, watch the catfish go crazy then toss a line in and within seconds one would bite lol.

Guess it was kind of cheating but was cool to do as kid. I remember I nearly got pulled into the water off the dock by a huge one once

Spearfishing would be awesome, I'd love to learn to fly fish one day though. Both those look like they take some serious skill and patience

Maybe in your area. :notsure: Trout season is early enough in the year in NC that bugs arent an issue. There are so many laws here that it makes it not really fun unless you have the money to do it properly imo.

    No barbed hooks
    No treble hooks
    No smelly bait
    No soft lures
    Hooks have to be tiny
Fish have to be pretty big to keep
    No live/or "grocery store" baits
And a whole slew of other ridiculous rules...

Burying bodies is archaic and gonna get you caught by the popo, you need to be dissolving them in hydrofluoric acid

    You're a dead man...

The fishing here is like 2-3 weeks behind schedule because we had such a long cold spring, you know global warming. So end of this week I think the warm water fish will get going, the white bass, the channel cats, etc
