So I decided to clean my throttle body and maf sensor today. After putting everything back together I’ve noticed what sounds like an open filter type noise. The moment you step on the throttle you hear it sucking air then it goes away. I’ve used throttle body cleaner to spray looking for leaks and checked all hoses. The noise is coming from here as best I can tell

Sounds like vacuum leak. Go back and check the seals on the MAF and any vacuum hoses that could be nearby for cracks or aging. With the engine running you can also move your hands over the hoses or MAF seal and if that’s the source of the leak, your hands will change the pitch of the noise.

    No K&N Emmett

@GHOST SHIP shouldn’t the throttle body cleaner spray do the same when sprayed around a leak?

Put a piece if suran wrap over that piece you are pointing and see if it gets sucked down and stops the leak.

I set about this due to p0171 and p0174 which is supposed to indicate dirty maf or vacuum leak. The noise was not present before and I had already preformed a smoke test prior to today

Check the back of the air box near the firewall there’s a small hose that can pop off when you remove the air filter box it’s about a 1/4 hose

My wife actually found that one. The first time she actually got out and really helped me with the truck. I enjoyed that moment. Still have the noise but after another redneck cigarette smoke test I still haven’t found any leaks. Still have the noise and my p0171/p0174 codes. I have a donut gasket to replace between the y pipe and muffler pipe section. You can see where it’s been blowing out at the bottom. Just haven’t had the time yet.

Did you ever find the fix to this? My Tacoma just started making a sucking noise on driver side but only when I press my foot on gas pedal. It makes this noise regardless if I’m in park or drive. I’m not sure if it is something I should be worried about.
