I have been using a used morimoto ballast for the good part of the year with no issues.
Also a first, hearing someone use HIDs in a halogen reflector highbeam housing.
Most people at that point would retrofit.

Switched from LED to morimoto HID Elite 55w the other day. I haven’t driven the car at night yet. Always driving the wife’s car haha

    Retrofit HID **

Otherwise you’re just blinding everyone else on the road.

You’re running halogen projectors with an HID bulb. They do not reflect properly. It’s not a debate. They’re better than straight halogen lamps, but it’s still 100% the wrong lamp.

There’s a reason any state with a half decent safety inspection will fail you for running a non-approved HID project with HIDs. It’s dangerous for other drivers.

Yeah, they work. They’re just not legal or have the right reflectors.

I have philips led bulbs in both my Tacoma and our minivan.
My wife and I rarely drive in the dark. Only times I use my lowbeam is when it rains, in a tunnel, or on the bay bridge.
However when we have used them in the dark we were able to see just fine
