Just to stir it up a bit OP. If you really wanted expert advise, you should have visited the 2nd gen side and we would have told you not to buy a turd gen.

I think you would have been too busy posting in the ‘Frame Rust Megathread’ to notice his contribution.

You’d be pleased to know I spent all day driving a 2015 Taco Sport LB, traveling for work to a remote jobsite in a colleagues vehicle. It’s a nice truck. Motor definitely has more chooch. Gas mileage was atrocious, so it’s a trade off.

I wish I could have the best of both.

Once again dude, it's the SAME FRAME on your truck as a 2015. Your frame is going to rust, just the same, at the exact same rate, as a 2015. Except you will get an additional 2 years before your rusty garbage frame snaps in half.

I'm just saying .... 3rd gens are great, 2nd gens are great, your frame is fucking doomed pal.

As Darwin would say: the 2nd gens that survived the mass extinction are really tough trucks.

Mine has 3rd Gen frame paint. Bob the Oil Guy proved it’s a better paint. Way more zinc and selenium in the base matrix.

I’ll sell you a couple cans of it for $75. You just gotta find a buddy with a 3rd Gen VIN. They won’t sell it to just anyone.

You first! The CRC has been extended to 3rd gen trucks too. Wanna bet they rust exactly as bad? Name your terms and I have $50 on it.

    Here's my wager @hiPSI @Stocklocker

I bet you $50 USD that on, or before, 11:59Pm December 31st 2026, Toyota will announce a frame inspection and/or replacement program for 2016+ Toyota Tacoma vehicles.

In addition to the $50, the loser will publicly (on TacomaWorld) take a virtual knee, remove their virtual hat, and say the following:

"While arrogance and pride once clouded my mind, your wisdom has removed the veil of ignorance from my eyes, and you sir, are the better man."

    Deal?
