Is anyone having issues with the locking action? I have everything installed and it unlocks with no problems, but it won’t lock. Is there an adjustment I need to make in the actuator?

Apologies if this is a dumb question, I searched the thread to no avail

I had that issue...I had to make adjustment to the rod to be able to let the actuator extend fully.

    TAILGATE OPENER:
    • The new PNP Harnesses are Ready
    • The new Integrated Harnesses I have just approved and I’m about to place an order for 200 of them.
    • The new BNL Bracket & Rods I have approved and I’m ready to place an order for 200 of them.
    • I have also requested quotes for Dual Butt Connectors and some Replacement “V” Wires for the PNP Harness for those that may want to convert their PNP Harnesses to the Newer version to incorporate the Tailgate Opener or other mods. This way you can have the option of just purchasing some wire replacements to add to your PNP Harness.
    • DSIM just returned so he will be starting back up on his side of things soon. @DSIM

I really hope you aren’t being serious, especially since I mentioned I will be updating orders this weekend, shipping out orders this week. I just want to remind people that I do this on the side and that is what this will always be for me. I do this to help people out. This is not my full time job. I have my own full time job and I also have my own personal life that I fully enjoy. I just want to make that 100% clear. I also want to say that I try my best to communicate the best I can but there are times where I will be extremely busy and things might get a little delayed. Plus, I might want to enjoy doing some personal mods on my own truck as well.

    Hi Katie,
We all get it. Just a word of advice. Prioritize communications. We can all be patient waiting for delivery, but just knowing that you received payment and we are confirmed is adequate (I have already been notified, this is just advice). This process can even be automated (not hard at all, send me a PM if you want free guidance).
    Thanks,
    John

Appreciate your advice, but it hasn't been that long since I last made updates. And...I have responded on here with updates to all stating what my plan is which in turn is a response to everyone regarding their payments as to when they should expect a reply for confirmation.

Thanks. I got the Bracket&Rod kit so I’m working with the small pre-bent rod. I definitely need better extension from the actuator/rod and not sure how to achieve that. Maybe there’s a way to adjust the actuator itself?

I had to completely rebend both ends of the rod to gain every bit of length it could give. It isn’t pretty, but it works. The nice square hook that KT provided now looks like miniature bobby pin and the other side is about as small of a complete circle as you can make it. Give it a go for an old school honest effort. Maybe someone in your area could help?

    UPDATE:

I have updated the CURRENT ORDER LIST. If you have not received a response from me it is because your PM was not unread when I was going through all of my new messages. Please send me a new message so that it will be fresh in my inbox and I can make the update to the list. As of right now, I have updated the list with what I've received.

What’s happening? Is your Rod Length correct now? Once the Rod Length is correct, everything should work flawlessly. Please make sure the Actuator is installed the correct way as well. I had one person install it the incorrect way.

Serious about you not PM'ing me but not about the opener kit. I just wanted to make sure you received my order and I just got your PM. I wasn't worried or anything and I saw a previous post where you said you were a little behind and ordering new material, so were all good.

Thanks, knowing that the extension needs to come from the rod rather than some adjustment of the actuator helps. Time to twist some metal...

I’ll need to measure, but I’d be surprised if the rod that came with the bracket&rod kit was any different than yours. Also, there’s not exactly more than one way to install it with the pre-cut bracket. Sounds like others have needed to get creative in extending the rod though

Yeah. No. There’s only one way to install the rod. Everyone should be the same that’s why I was trying to ask to see what’s been going on. The only thing that should need adjusting is the Rod. I’m not really sure what else people would be adjusting tbh. Unless they adjusted it prior to knowing about the Rod and then that would make sense.

Great addition to the Tacoma. Easy install, well thought out design, all at a good price. I had a self-inflicted problem with the rod and Katie was quick to respond and resolve the issue. Thank you for the time and effort you put into designing, assembling and shipping this excellent product.

    UPDATE:

Since I have my cost for everything regarding the Tailgate Opener, in order to make sure I place the right quantity order for my Integrated Harnesses, would there be any interest in having me open up a pre-order list where people can place their order now and make their payments like I’ve done in the past in order to give me an idea of the interest level for this mod?

The rod in the photo is 3.25". The rod I was sent is just under 3" long. Can you send me a correct length rod?
