Florida man pours salt in Walmart to get rid of evil spirits around him, sheriff says

HUDSON, Fla. (CBS12) — A man in central Florida told deputies he poured salt on the floor of a Walmart store to get rid of the evil spirits around him.

The Pasco Sheriff's Office arrested 38-year-old Dameon Dean Cantrell early Sunday morning.

A store manager told investigators a man poured salt on the floor and on his feet before walking into the woods near the store. The manager said he wanted the man charged with trespassing.

A deputy found Cantrell laying under some trees in the woods, but still on Walmart property. He was arrested and taken to the Land O'Lakes Detention Center.

Florida man taking the show on the road!!

    https://www.foxnews.com/us/florida-man-steals-car-kills-dog-chicken-coop

A Florida man who allegedly stole a car, killed a dog -- and possibly chickens -- and chased a man with an ax was found naked in a chicken coop Tuesday, police said.

John Mehne, 25, of Sarasota, Fla., was arrested Tuesday after New York State Police responded to a call about an Audi, parked facing the wrong direction, on Interstate 81, roughly three miles from the Pennsylvania border.

Investigators discovered the vehicle was reported stolen in Sarasota. Mehne had allegedly been driving the Audi when he crashed it into a guardrail. He then tried to hop on the back of a van, failed, then jumped onto the back of a pickup truck before that driver pulled over, allowing Mehne to flee into the woods, police said in a news release.

A search by the state police and the Broome County Sheriff's Office ensued and, later that day, state police received a call from a man who "came home from work and found Mehne in his chicken coop."

Mehne, when asked what he was doing, allegedly said he was "killing the chickens." State police said Mehne chased the man with an ax and rode off after stealing an ATV, which he later abandoned.

Soon after, authorities said they received another call about a naked man in another chicken coop -- which is where Mehne was arrested. The 25-year-old was bitten by a police K-9 officer in the process.

Authorities later learned that Mehne allegedly broke into a home in the area and killed a family dog.

Mehne was transported to a hospital for treatment, booked, and remanded at the Broome County Jail on no bail.

Motorcyclist dies after being struck by lightning while riding on I-95, FHP says

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. - A motorcyclist died Sunday afternoon after being struck by lightning on I-95 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the incident occurred just before 3 p.m. on I-95 southbound near mile marker 271.

The 45-year-old man from North Carolina was struck by lightning and crashed after leaving the roadway, troopers said.

An FHP spokesperson said the lightning struck the man's helmet and shattered it.

Troopers said an off-duty Virginia State trooper witnessed the lightning strike.

According to John Jensenius with the National Lightning Safety Council, there have been 10 lightning fatalities related to motorcycles since 2006. In several of those cases though, he said the rider was not on the bike when they were struck.
