3rd gen suspension on 2nd gen?

I put a 3rd gen suspension on my 2nd Gen. I think it raised my front by about an inch. Is it necessary to adjust the headlight aim for such a small change?

 

I’m actually going to pick up a set of front struts/coils and rear struts (no leafs) today and gonna install them next weekend maybe. I have a 15 dcsb trd OR, is any benefit to the 3rd gen leafs over my stock ones? I have the 3+overload. Also, there’s a set of 3rd gen trd pro leafs i was eyeballing that the ad says it gives about a 1.5in lift over the stock 2nd gen trd OR, does that sound right?

 

has anyone tried putting 2nd gen leafs and coils on a 3rd gen? the reason is to stock out the 3rd gen and harvest all the good stuff before a trade in

 

No but i have gone the other way. I am pretty sure they will work.

I may be picking up a set of 2018 Sport front coils/shocks, and I was wondering if they are side specific? I noticed the OR fronts are side specific but others Ive seen, the colored dots are the same color on each side for the sport. Did you have any issues with that?

Others have also said they prefer the feel of the OR front vs the Sport fronts, how do yours drive?

 

They are side specific but I don't recall which color goes where. Somewhere on TW I found it. I like the sport because I am on pavement 98% of the time but they also can be firmer than optimal on rural roads.

Thanks for confirming. I noticed most sets of sports have the color difference per side, but I noticed another thread where someone had the same colors on each side and couldnt tell the difference.

Got the spacers and add a leaf from wheelers offroad . Worked like a charm. Add a leaf adds 1 1/2" onto existing leaf pack . Read up on them as not everyone agrees they are a good solution. I thought the ride was fine . My 2 cents

Putting in just the 3rd gen leaf pack doesn't yield any lift. You need the extra leaf to get lift. You have two options on add a leafs. A single leaf or a 3 leaf progressive. Supposedly the 3 rides better because lifted is gained by the height of the leafs and not the bow of a single leaf.

Here is my question can u get the 3rd gen shock and coils for a gen 2 and add a 1-1.5 inch spacer on it? Will it still fit the gen 2?

 

It would fit no problem, but if you are wanting that much lift you should seriously consider aftermarket shocks and springs, ride and handling would be far better. Not to mention that you would be approaching the level of needed aftermarket UCAs to be able to set alignment.

 

I drive my truck to work on I5 every day and don’t really care to put the money into it for the fancy suspension. I already got the gen3 shocks on a killer deal and figured if I can put a tiny block on it it and it won’t affect too much and it will look a lot better why not.

 

I have 1/2 spacer on mine (1 inch of Lift) and my bro in law has 3/4 spacer (1.5 inch of lift). You are probably going to need upper control arms if you want to go with higher.
