i think you're thinking of something different

DRL's are when your headlights come on at approx 80% at start up (this is with most cars)

this is a requirement for canadian cars

Yea DRL means Daytime Running Lights. I'm pretty sure they all come stock with them unless they have been disabled. I just disabled mine the other day.

uhmm, now did you disable them??? (thinking that i can possibly reverse it if needed)

and do your headlights come on or just your signal/marker lights?

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
    I have a 02 and I don't have DRL.

There is a drl relay box under the dash on the drivers side. I clipped one on the wires on the plug. Its an easy mod to do and just as easy to undo it. It is just my headlights that would come on and when I would turn the headlight switch on they would get a little brighter and my marker lights would then come on.

It might have been a factory option or something.

Mine's an 01 & came with DRLs, I also disabled them which was the first thing I did when I got it.

And yes only the headlights come on with less output than the normal lows without the markers. I forget if mine did it but IIRC DRLs in general are supposed to turn when the parking brake is released with the key on. If you look right under the dash slightly off to the right you will see the DRL control module & it's clearly marked.

The daytime running lights on my 2010 are just the marker lights. On myFJ Cruiser it was the headlights.
