Big 6 year anniversary at Burial in Asheville this Friday. Might take a half day off to drive up there. 6 big releases; sours, stouts, and some hazebois.

These things are a lot more fun when you have a buddy who likes to go. Unfortunately, any of my lame ass friends don’t really care much for craft beer. My wife is my biggest brewery buddy but since we have a month old baby, that might put a damper on that. We will see though

That stinks! I feel your pain... whenever I try to hit up the brewery in the next town over, I have to coordinate with the Mrs because of daycare pickup, so I can try and make it.

They(4 pack)were good.A little boozy.Throat pallet burst with flavor’s from the variety of hops after each drink.

I think it was a members-only purchase. At least for now. He texted me about it but didn't get me any. The dick.

Know that feeling... had one friend move away that I fortunately found another friend, who subsequently moved away. Wife doesn't really care for beer... so buying entry when there isn't a Designated Driver offering gets horribly pricey. I don't have that problem anymore, but it wasn't fun. Ya need a buddy to chat with to praise and lambast the beers with. It's even better if you're polar opposites like an IPA and a Porter.

Not my pic.. Someone uploaded this to the DG release group I’m in on FB. It’s from the ‘flower series’ of DIPAs last year for local flowers in SW PA. Last (13th) release was a TIPA called Bouquet that sold with that teku if you wanted it.

I’ve had a few of the bird series this year and they’ve all been good, no matter what @uhplifted says.

Just about any beer is if you try hard enough, really....

Yeah, member's only for now. Just came out thursday, public release is coming in a few weeks, but not sure how far this will make it. Their distro is getting more varied, it used to just be like 5 staple beers but it's expanding now.

I got you some ya whiner...im sure you'll be unimpressed though :luvya:

Aren't they staggered releases? So the first one would be pretty old by the time the last one comes out? I'm confused... Stout verticals I get, but hazys?

Yeah, 12 to 1 month old at least. The TIPA would age fine being a 10.5%, but the earliest of those releases would likely have lost a lot by then. DG tends to release some really fresh stuff that benefits from some time in the fridge, but I think this one was for the gram.

It's not the ABV as much as it's the way the hops are used. Waldo's from Lagunitas is like 10+% but because it's dry hopped like a mo-fo, age that thing a few weeks and it'll just be syrup since the dry hop fades so quickly. A decent hazy is only really worth it for like a 2 week window, max, after that, it drops off considerably.

I have some that are older than that and really benefited from settling. Granted, every brewer is different.

Hopefully gonna get to try some Monkish this weekend. Buddy has a monthly trade with a guy for it and he got some in. Find out if the hype is real.

My wife is not a huge beer fan but she’s a champ when it comes to hanging out at breweries with me. If our kid was a little older it would probably be a non issue.

I’d settle for a friend that enjoyed craft beer on my level, but it would definitely be fun to talk shit to one that liked all the stuff I don’t like. (Not that there’s much as far as beer goes that I don’t like)
