I’ve never owned a Toyota vehicle before; however, I am aware that mechanically they are generally superior to their domestic counterparts. I am Jeep builder with tons of ownership and build experience with all manner of the “real Jeeps” (see CJ’s, YJ’s, TJ’s, and JK’s). That said – I am interested in something more functional and find the Tacoma to be that. I am considering a TRD Pro or TRD Off Road and do not really know why I would buy one over the other – so at this point I am here to clarify which truck makes more sense if I am in the position to get a Tacoma in the near future.

I currently overland a 2018 Ram 2500 4x4 Diesel with a host of upgrades and modifications that begin with the AEV Highmark Fender solution.

Trd pro if you plan on doing very minor modifications to the suspension and want something decent offroad. Trd offroad if you plan on swapping out the suspension for something else (stock suspension is pretty crap).

Most of the other pro features (outside the fox suspension) are just luxury/aesthetic. Both have a rear locker and crawl mode.
