Plasti dip

Would you guys plasti dip rear bumper covers or just get the bumper covers?

 

Plasti dip it first since plati dip is cheap and if you dont like it get colored match caps

 

I have to agree. If anything, you can plasti-dip and then if you like the look and want a more solid, permanent solution go ahead and get them. Personally though, I think the bumper looks better with the color matched caps. It's one of the main reasons I went with a Sport instead of the Off Road.

 

I bought a new set and they are waiting to be picked up at the body shop when I get back Saturday. Color matched looks much better in my opinion. With the middle part of the rear being flat black the sides need some color to look right. Black is fine, but I would rather have color basically. Will post pics this weekend.

 

I plastic dipped my chrome rear bumper caps black months ago and it looks good. I didn't even take them off. I just sprayed them and wiped off the overspray with a rag.

 

I have bar red Tacoma and everything else blacked out so was gonna do caps too. Your right if I don’t like it I can take it off.

 

Do you have any pics and how many coats?

 

I plasti dipped the front valance two years ago and still looks new. No chips or scratches

 

I'd do plasti dip, just clean it with soapy water and then do a quick wipe down with alcohol. I did my grill 2 years ago and still looks like I did it yesterday. I also used the whole can on the grill. it's 5 bucks for the can and doesn't take too long either. use that or bedliner and it will hold up great

This is pretty cool. I have the same one that is all chrome and I hate it but don't want to spend a couple hundred on a brand new grill. How easy was taking it off and putting it back on?

 

To take the grill off the truck less that 5 mins and 4 fasteners (2-10 mil screws and 2- pin fasteners) and then to remove the grill from the outer frame maybe about 10 mins, the clips can be a pain in the but, but take your times maybe heat them up with a hair dryer so they're not too rigid. I pull off my grill yesterday to put on a bootleg OEM pro grill, took me less that 10 mins. not hard at all. unscrew all the screws and pop out all the tab clips and you're done.

I was in the same boat as you, I didn't want to spend a ton on a new grill and wanted to save up money for a new one. Plastidip was perfect.

I just plasti dipped my rear bumper and badges. I took the plastic off the bumper and cleaned it real good with tire polish and kept the bumper on the truck. Turned out great
