They are both 1GR-FE motors in 4.0 V6, but they are not the SAME 4.0 V6 1GR-FE. The 4runner has the dual vvt-i and 44 more ponies.

Nope, I just want the headlights to turn themselves on when it gets dark and go off when its light. I got spoiled from my last 3 cars having it and sometimes I forget to turn them on immediately if im in a well lit parking lot. It's by no means a deal breaker, but it would be really nice to have.

 

Yep. We have a handful of local cops who are lighting nazis. You should have been with me the day I got pulled over for the OEM xenons in my wifes Jaguar. I almost went to jail lol.

 

Can we include changes for the second gen? If so, I want the weak as heck tailgate swapped out for a real one, and I want some kind of change to the lower control arm design so the bolts don't seize up on me again. That was a pain in the ass.

It would actually be better for both of us because the 4runner 4.0 is still in supply chain. You'd basically just have to swap motor mounts.

That is one of the reasons that I like our non-backlight instruments. If it is hard to see the speedo, then the lights need to come on.

I do like the version of auto-headlights that we do have though. Compare that to my wife Forester, the true auto-headlights work well, but there is no off timer on the interior lights. The kids killed the battery several times with those.

 

There sure is. Go drive an ecoboost 3.5 and you'll feel a proper truck engine. Think something like the 2.7 ecoboost would be awesome in our trucks.
