I did a search and did not see a similar post. Hopefully I did not look over one. :fingerscrossed:

This could go into two different sections, but I thought this area would offer more traffic.

I see a few 1st Gens with SCS wheels on them, but I'm interested in additional info on your setup.

    1. What SCS wheels are you running?
    2. What tires are you running?
    3. What back spacing do you have?
    4. What offset do you have?
    5. Are you running spacers, if so. what size?

Please post pictures if you can, side view and rear/front body line/fender view if possible.

Thank you for your time

I'll edit my post with pics once I get them mounted ... but I'll be running Matte Gunmettal F5's, 3.5BS, -25mm Offset with...wait for it... 295/75 R16 Cooper AT3 XLT's... should be able to get them mounted early next week. I've got UCA's comin in the mail today and some Whiteline bushings to install on my LCA's...THEN I can button it all up.

Stealth 6's (16x8) with 3.5" backspacing and ST Maxx 255/85R16 tires. Note that I'm no longer running these because of the backspacing (threw up too much mud), but they looked great, and I miss them.

Did you rub with this setup? What lift are you running? I had the exact same tire on my 2013 regular cab but with stock wheels and spidertrax spacers and loved them and still have 1 half used tire in that size for a spare so I'm trying to get my '04 up to the point of running them again lol

Gold and gun metal scs are the only wheels I ever see that make me want to replace the stock wheels. They just look so natural on our trucks. A definite upgrade but I can’t justify the cost.

Not to say you're wrong, but it looks like your F5's are closer to the 4.5 bs rather than the 3.5 bs. In looking around online, the 3.5 bs f5's have the inner spokes welded in much deeper than the latter.

Yes. Any 255/85R16 will rub on a 1st gen, regardless of wheel, without some trimming of the pinch weld and a little bashing of the firewall. Even then, with stock UCAs, I rubbed a bit on the rear of the wheel well under compression and near full lock (due to the 3.5" backspacing). Here's a good article about tire size and rubbing:
What size tires fit my Tacoma?

Here's my write-up of the pinch weld work I did:
    Finally, the Pinch Weld Mod

I later went to SPC UCAs and that alleviated the rubbing for me, but only because I'd already done the pinch weld and wheel well bashing. Here was the write-up for the UCA (and new coilover) install:
Bye Bye Toytec, New UCA's and ADS Shocks in the Front
    [IMG]

And now, I've moved to 16" wheels with 4.5" backspacing, which would be great - no rubbing on the frame or rear of the wheel well - except that I have my remote resis mounted to the frame, and they protrude ~3" from the frame, so I rub on those a bit at full lock. That's covered here in this rig review:
Rig Review: Anza-Borrego & Ruining Around in Utah - What worked and what didn't?

I figured but I was hoping there was some magical formula with that combo that avoided rubbing haha. I guess it wouldn't be fun or rewarding if it was easy

Yup. Without taking care of the pinch weld and trimming I would be rubbing everytime I made a left or right turn.

You research has served you well. I pulled some tape on my spare.... and BS comes out to 4.5

how’s does this happen? well I bought the wheels of craigslist set of 5 for $350 with minor rock dash, which were said to be 3.5 BS. With my focus on the killer price I just handed over the cash ahah, Good catch.

Ah. I thought I remembered reading in your build thread that your f5's were a zero offset which is roughly a 4.5" bs.

$350??? That's the steal of the century for 5 of those wheels. Even if the rock rash was worse. Nice score.

I was doubtful with the 4.5" bs on the f5's but after seeing how damn good your truck looks, I pulled the trigger on a set for myself (I think I bought the last one's cause they're out of stock now haha). Hopefully gonna be mounting up my f5's to a set of 285/75r16 Grabber X3's tomorrow.

What lug nuts are you using? I'm hoping America's tire has some black ones I can buy that'll work with the rims if my current ones don't.
