I came into the family room to find my guy sound asleep, snoring away in this position...

Momma tried the raincoat she ordered on the baby. Needless to say, she wasn’t impressed

Trying to make them get along. Been a month now and they’re still not friends, but one will sleep next to my wife on the couch, the other next to me. Only 3-4’ apart. I hope they start accepting each other soon, it’s getting old to constantly run interference between them...

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
It will come with time, with positive reinforcement. We had a gate up to give separate space to Kitty for over 6 months. Treat your puppy whenever he looks away from the cat. Fern still chases our cat when they are being playful, but overall is very good. I only worry about it because it is like a 12 yr old wresting with a 4 yr old. But they spend the day in the house together, and all is well. Sometimes I wish they'd snuggle. I kind of doubt that will happen at this point. But they coexist well enough. Our cat is on thyroid meds, so twice a day treatment. It has taught Fern to be patient, and when Kitty is done with her med, she gets a treat also, only AFTER the cat. I believe that has helped tremendously.

Just because a dog is a male does not mean it will be the dominant dog. I have a female who is very dormant, and a young male who is pretty dominant as well. They get along well.

Beautiful dog. The prong collar is suppose to be snug on the top of the dogs neck to prevent injury.

At this point it’s not hooked up to the leash it’s there as a reminder and some jingle. He’s almost ready to do without it but just having it there keeps him a little more cooperative.

Males or females of similar stature in the pack can fight to secure hierarchy. Generally, opposite sex settle the dominance thing quickly and no problems. This is one good reason to neuter/spay but as puppies age, they become more interested in hierarchy and that’s when issues arise.

Thanks for the insight, TinMan. Much appreciated! We’re taking it slowly, the cat used to rule the house and now this pup is patrolling like crazy. We’ve got her so she will ignore kitty most of the time, but if the cat hisses then the dog reacts and wants to play. Doesn’t take a swipe to the face very seriously.

We’ve been trying to get the dog to follow commands in close proximity to the cat as well, keeping her attention on us rather than the cat. Seems to be helping.

I prefer not to spay/neuter until a dog is 2+ and fully matured. Currently going to be living with 5 females and one male un-altered :drunk:
