    Hey Lass's and Lads,
Just wanted to say I am sorry for not being on here lately. Shit generally gets crazy around the homestead as summer hits with mowing, weed eating, pruning, and yard waste runs to the landfill, and then there is the pool (20' x 40' inground) and even though we contract out to have it opened and closed we still have to clean the decking, the tiki bar and all the crap we have out there like the chairs, not to mention all the bric-a-brac and chotzkies we set up to make the area more party friendly, etc. Needless to say, it's very time consuming. It typically only takes up a couple weekends and we are done. This year we were greeted with the need to have 4k gallons of water delivered ($300) to make opening the pool possible. This after all the water from the closing last year from rain and snow was being pumped off the cover into it. This Wednesday our pool contractor will be "diving" the pool at a rate of $525 an hour to search for the leak. My thought is the light niche conduit is the culprit. I hope. If not, it could be the main drain. The main drain fix might require draining the entire pool (34k gals).

I know I know, first world problems and all that. Boo hoo. Yes, I would like a little whine with that cheese.

But and this is why I have been so depressed about it. My wife invested a lot of a small inheritance on having the liner replaced about 5 years ago. A lot of money. The pool is her baby and when she is out there all her cares and worries disappear. She works as hard as I do and her job is more stressful than mine. The pool is literally her oasis. Growing up, her best friend has been my cousin. Since like the 3rd grade. She had planned on coming over to spend time with my wife with my aunt and nieces. Basically a all girls weekend. I was going to use those opportunities to go wheeling on long weekends.

Now I know it kinda sounds selfish of me to be bummed out because of that but here's the thing. We've known each other since forever, been together since 83' and married since 87'. Except for when I hunted before we moved in together in 83', we've never spent a night alone away from each other. Yes, we are adults, yes, we have a security system, and security cameras, everything is monitored and can be remotely accessed. But that doesn't change the fact that she will be there alone, and without her pool. I know she can handle it. She is stronger willed than I am, and has been on her own before we became a thing. But I don't care. We are soul mates and best friends. She has told to me to go and she will be fine but I know she is just saying that. She asks every night what's going on in here. "What are the boys up to?" she says.

So I have been racking my brain trying to come up with a resolution to try to save some money to get this problem fixed. Obviously the truck and any mods are out. I have to do my 30k mile maintenance soon but other than that no more toys for me for a while. We are planning a trip to Florida in October and are locked into that. I hope this pool doesn't eat into those funds and ruin it. Don't get me wrong. We were poor when we first got together so we know how to survive. It's just at this time of our lives we should be enjoying life more and not dealing with this kind of shit.

So we'll handle this like we do all that life throws at us and when I have the time I will be on here again, more often. I promise. Until then I appreciate all the thoughts and well wishes, but please, no pity and no sympathy. Life has been throwing lemons at us since the 80's and we are masters at making lemon drops. Lemonade is for kids.

I know all the work that goes into the pool and yard all too well . Even though your pool is much larger than mine they can all be a pain in the ass . It seems like yard work never ends, and don’t get me started on all the flower gardens and vegetable garden:facepalm:just lots of work that I do enjoy up to a certain point. By the way that transmission cooler fiasco I had .......cost me $384 . Never trying to fix anything mechanical again

You guys think $260 is a good price for serpentine belt change, full synthetic oil change and a thorough inspection on my truck? Its a local 4x4 place doing it...
As long as I can swing it with everything else going on that is o_O

Well that's not a good sign...lol. Id love to do all this myself but I don't have the tools and not confident enough to be changing belts and such. Oil would probably be doable but it'll probably cost me the same to do it myself as having him do it....
