I did like those. But I figured you get what you pay for. The aluminum ones for the Toyota 86 are 200.00. And, on high performance toyotas

 

I know what you mean. No need. But everything in the engine bay is too tight. No rubber hose would even fit around the hose where I routed it.


Also so I hooked up my transmission cooler last night. Anyone know how tight the barbs are supposed to go down? Snug or all the way down till it won’t go anymore? I’ve got fluid coming out.

 

Where are they for sale? I would aluminum too. Something else to get powder coated.

Depends on your hose size, ha ha, hps has mandrel bend aluminum pipe down to 3/4 if that helps.

 

Replaced leaking intercooler hoses, installed new reservoir, new Bosch pump and oil catch can. Copied a bunch of you guys on these mods. Thanks y'all.

 

I like those HPS silicone hoses in there.

 

Fabbed up my @Roostfactor pulley wrap mod. Instanly steadied my boost psi and gained a .4psi at WOT. Thanks for taking time out to shoot details.

@henryp ,where did you source your couplers for your s/c hoses? I haven't been satisfied with the couplers I've found. Looks nice man!

My Tacoma gets 0W-30, but it doesn't see much harsh service. It's Amsoil SS 0W-40 for the Shelby (Amsoil's higher quality synthetic doesn't shear like Motorcraft's pseudo-synthetic 5W-50. Lab analysis confirms the 0W-40 is pretty close to the recommended viscosity.) and Amsoil European 0W-40 in my wife's BMW 340ix (I was shocked at the recommendation of 0W-20 for a turbo'd engine, the previous generation of which called for 0W-40! Seems like out-of-control CAFE standard...).

 

Remember it's not just CAFE. Lower viscosity oils also allow more room for detergents and solvents in the Oil. Companies pay taxes if they don't adhere to life long drivetrain fluids and 5K or longer OCIs.

 

Place the intercooler reservoir as high as possible. Ideally it will be the highest point in the system to bleed any air out.

 

They void warranties and foot burnt oil and evaporative loss repair bills to consumers too. End of the day, they aren't out for your vehicle's lifetime dependability. That's where it requires us to do the research and figure out the best course of action.

 

Tightened them down till they wouldn’t move. We’re good now.

So I realized something last night. When I close my hood the grille pretty much fully obstructs the oil cooler. Should be fine right? There’s still plenty of air rushing by to the radiator.

These would be awesome on a sport hood.

They would probably fit on my own well based on the simple premise that the sports don't have a whole lot of space as it is and these would be on the side.

 

I am using a sandwich plate under my oil filter, and I do not see constant/consistent pressure readings. Sometimes the gauge reads correctly, other times it reads "0", other times, somewhere in between.

I am using a Glow Shift plate.

I get the feeling that the port I am using for the pressure gauge is really a port for a cooler. But, all the ports on this plate are in the same flow area (the return, out of the filter.)

Should I be using a different plate? Which plate are you using? Any other ideas?
