Why doesnt one of the 3rd gen owners go to a dyno facility and rent a dyno facility for a day ???? . I do know this , the DA and Relative Density changes by the minute

Please save your money! These cold air filters are just not worth it. But it will look cool I guess. Just my opinion.

Snorkel honestly gives you a slight ram air effect 40mph and above. I really like the dobinsons for the 3rd gen.

First get a set of cams, header, injectors, exhaust, then the Cold Air intake. After that...go find a tuner and thats how its done. Otherwise its for looks and sound.

I love these threads because it's always the same, people quoting what they've heard others quote and other people saying "do what you like" etc etc. BUT....the post above is actually useful. That ScienceDirect study is the first I've seen that's actually useful scientific information. Pretty impressive how it shows the KN actually flows LESS air. KN is correct at least in MPG increase (sort of). Based on that study the mpg increased by about .66 mpg's. So you might get a few miles more out of a tank of gas, but you're ingesting nearly 50% more dirt to do it.

I’ve noticed no discernible difference in my MPG’s or performance out of the butt dyno

Is there ANY difference between the TRD CAI over stock other than a drop-in filter and it saying TRD on the lid? They look exactly the same to me.

save your money friend, I spent nearly 5 bills on my cai and all it does is make my head vibrate over 3k rpms, throttle response is a bit more yippy but meh.

I did on mine just a small bit on passing power then added the roof rack and became worse than ever before.

Everyone says good sound improvement, but it never happened unless you attach before/after audio files.

Of course a report done by the manufacturer is gonna show their item testing well. What are they gonna do? Tell you it doesn't do anything over stock?

Snorkels are the only true aftermarket cold air intake really. Aside from maybe the URD one that mounts in front behind the grill. I monitor my intake temps with the Torque app and they went down considerably especially in the heat of summer after I installed the snorkel. Which is really good especially when running the supercharger because it really heats up under there.

I don't think the air ram effect offers any added performance, but it is the reason why the head should always face forward.. people that turn it around thinking they're getting cleaner air or whatever are actually doing a big disservice to their truck when going 40+mph. Struggles a lot more to pull air in and can potentially create a vacuum at certain speeds and choke.
