It really depends on "your" needs. I like the lockable and semi-water tight storage capabilities of the OEM tonneau cover.
I added a water-tight tool box for items needing to be kept 100% dry. If I need to transport something large, then it can be removed easy enough.

The Tonneau+rack combo is easily done if you plan it properly.

In my case, I just went with a TruXport roll-up cover and Mobtown Offroad's Low-rise Bed Bars:

I used to run open bed, but recently moved across country to a meth head province, and had my belongings stolen from the bed. Had to purchase bed cover to keep items secure. Nevertheless, they break windows here too just to steal sunglasses... not keeping my truck here for too long.

    bakflip mx4 is pretty sturdy!

Sucks man, AZ isnt any better, but for me the only thing ever in the back of the truck is the bed mat or the bike and bike is to and from track. Thanks!

Right there nailed it, I have no real need for a cover, just a "hey this might be nice from time to time to have", hard to drop the coin.

I wish I didn't need a tonneau, so much easier to just throw stuff in the bed, but with two kids and lots of rain/snow here, I need mine.

I agree. I got same cover, and love it.. I can always take it off if I need to. It all comes down to what you think you need, or dont need.

Its just me so the DC works great for throwing things in the backseat I need kept out of the elements, but totally get it, passengers and then there's no room. Never had an issue open bed in the snow, snow just added weight over the wheels lol.

    Why not both?

I have a Lund roll up for the wet winter storage and slide it off the rails for summer dry season. It takes about two minutes to loosen one screw and slide it back on the header rail:

    IMG_20190521_165524.jpg

I just leave the rails on year round.

Nice. Ya The bakflip is totally removable too. Just trying to figure out if its worth the monies. Bank still owns the truck, that could always go towards principal ;)

I would have liked a rigid trifold, but the price and knowing that I really wanted either a GFC or canopy down the road had me looking at the cheap end of the spectrum. I do enjoy not having velcro or snaps to deal with, so I'm pretty happy with my solution for now.

With canopy prices what they are and GFCs getting more expensive, it might just be a long term solution?

I didn't want a T.Cover but the dealer had no trucks available without the $600 option and wouldn't remove it from the truck and the price. So I bought the truck (Silver, Access Cab, everything else stock) and made them remove the thing. It went into the bed and I drove it home where it now takes up space in the garage! I should sell it...

I have the lomax. IMO it's the best looking cover out there. Really sleek and low profile. 30 seconds to take off if you need to. Happy with it.

I asked diamondback if they would customize their basic cover to fit around my roll bar. They said no. Bareback for me.

Thanks for all the advice peeps, decided to just put the money towards the truck's principal and get this b*tch paid off already. Maybe later down the road or if I decide I really need one.

Joke dude, relax, comments like these are what makes threads go nuclear and get people banned for no good reason. Not everything is serious all the time and it's okay to laugh at yourself or silly sterotypes, i.e. mallcrawlers, KO2 bros, etc.
