Does anyone know if the 12V Power system that Vagabond puts in runs off of a separate power wire from the battery? Also does it have enough current carrying capacity to run a fridge?

For those that run solar, are you able to charge your car battery through the same wire as what feeds the 12V power system in the drifter?

    ...too much shit to list.

    It’s a separate wire.
Depends on what gauge wire you run to the battery and how many amps your fridge pulls.
Solar to feed the batteries is typically a separate wire. But as long as you tapped the wire that goes from the controller to the battery it won’t matter.

So I have been super busy with work and haven't had much chance to explore the areas I was putting together for a trip here in BC. If anyone is interested in the files I put together that explores some interesting spots, shot me a Pm and I will share them somehow, maybe a link to my google drive or something.

Hoping to get out towards the end of the summer myself and complete the loop, although with the new lady friend that may not happen, might have to drag her along for parts of it on her weekend off. hmm.

Is that not what having a pop-up camper is for?

Its already part of the build order to run a separate wire to the aux battery, Im thinking 6 gauge should be fine as its rated to 40A at 20ft. I just didnt know what kind of a module Vagabond installs locally in the Drifter. Is it the bluesea panel by any chance? Because then I could wire the Aux battery and the solar panels to the solar controller and have the bluesea panel as the load so it can pull power from the solar or the aux battery. Vagabond is also prepping the Drifter for solar.

Yea they offer a pretty good amount of surface area for a step and its super sturdy. Only thing is they dont pack well, but I got lucky and with it all folded up it fits right in the middle of the entryway in the camper

Don't think they've ever published that info. Shoot them an email, Phil tends to respond within a day or two in my experience.

Don't disagree, but my idea of camping and hers differs slightly.

Weight is about the same as having a camper shell on. The bare Drifter weighs just over 300lbs. Would recommend AAL's at the least. If you go building it out, expect to swap to Deaver's or some better springs. I've been running with a shell and AAL's for the last 5 years and it was a solid setup before I put the swingout on. Check my build thread if you want to see what I've done so far, which is not much.

What are the chances you know the height from the top ridges of the truck bed to the base of the bed platform? Targeting 40” if at all possible (would fit my drawer system with my dog’s crate on top which would solve all sorts of problems for me..).

My medium gunner kennel fit onto of the decked system when I had it. You should be able to take the dimensions of both and get an idea. I don't recall how much space there was to the bottom of th ebed platform. but there was enough that it fit. getting it in and out was a bit of a pain in the ass though.
