That was the part where I got kind of screwed, and didn't do my due diligence on. But it was such a long and frustrating process trying to find a bank that would approve an auto loan for a 15 year old vehicle (most denied it) that I jumped at the first bank that would, Wells Fargo. I think I have around a ~5% apr on my loan, which these days isn't very good. But banks see older car loans as more of a risk so you have to pay for that.

Higher interest rates were a lot more common in the 90s, but vehicles were cheaper.

Nowadays it's all about 0% APR for 12 months or 2 years, but the overall price of the vehicle is way higher than that same vehicle would have been 20 years ago (relatively).

Yeah man, despite all the armchair quarterbacks spewing their opinions, the reality is your particular taco was gonna sell for 20k+. With that condition, miles, location, and equipment, it would've sold either to you or someone else for sure. Whether these armchair qb's think that was the wrong play to call is irrelevant. You have a truck you can keep for a long ass time, if you wish, or one you can sell for damn good money, also if you wish.

    brand new rate
overall rates were bit higher in the late 90s than they are now
but not nearly as high as the late 70s/early 80s when my dad was trying to hurry and pay off a variable mortgage

i think these were 'sold' at half face value?
    so $50 initial
$180 in accrued interest over 30yrs??
not too shabby of a rate i would say, especially compared to the low rate environment over the past decade

    rule of 72 ... 7.2% doubles every 10yrs

I think he got what he wanted, he poked the bear non-stop....more like molested the bear actually

Best we can do now is turn him into a martyr for future generations to come

Nah, best we can do is laugh our asses off. I was disapointed when his first ban wasn't permanent. Its like he was bipolar or something. Ok to deal with for awhile, then would purposely troll people as much as possible not a few hours later.
