I wish it wasn't weird to wave at other 3rd Gen owners(NC/SC spotted thread)

Gave a cat in a black 3rd gen the wave today. He thought I was nuts

 

My mom told me it's just cause they are jealous.

 

I do the finger lift to all 3rd genners over here. Half of drivers respond and half are like wtf is this guy doing? haha.

 

2 finger lift for 2nd gen; 1 for third gen ( to reduce carbon emissions)

 

Nope it's not a North vs South versus East or West thing. It's Rural America vs Urban America. Politics in every state is divided along the same lines.

So, when in rural America, expect a smile and a wave from those other Tacos owners.

 

I wave to every Taco I see. Weird? Not really I get a lot of waves back. I figure if I see a cop while driving I'd warn the other taco drivers with a slow down wave.

I think the Tacoma wave is awesome! Actually any wave is awesome! People are to scared of social interaction these days. About a month ago I backed into a spot at work and had my head down playing on TW waiting for time to head inside. When in my peripherals I noticed another Cement Tacoma pull in front of me and stop. I looked up and noticed the guy smiling ear to ear and he gives me a huge wave and thumbs up and yells “nice truck buddy!”. I gave him a thumbs up and said “you too bro!”. He drove away with a big grin and even after a shitty commute to work just like that turned my morning upside down in a good way! Nothing wrong with being happy about your truck and admiring others. You wanna wave then wave away how I look at it.

 

Agree 100% I own a 17 wrangler, lifted, big tires and such. I dont even do the jeep wave. I dont feel right feels weird, I dont know these people. I purchased the jeep cause the wife wanted one not to be part of some club. My wife gives me crap because I do not wave anymore. I guess whatever makes one happy!

 

After getting my new gen 3, I see them everywhere. All my neighbors do the “full on Forest Gump”. So I’m happy to be waved to. Usually when people raise a finger to me, it’s the middle one...

 

I wave at almost every Tacoma owner, not sure why - maybe its an anti-Jeep gay wave thing (which is probably the primary reason to never own a Jeep). They never wave back. Goes to show you how small these internet communities really are.

 

Thankfully nobody does a tacoma wave around my town. The wave is and should be only a Jeep thing and a Harley thing...and I feel odd even waving at any Jeep newer than the TJ model when I'm in my Jeep...a real Jeep shouldn't be so citified and comfortable...

 

Just buy one of these and your waving problems will be over.

I will slightly change my opinion on this subject. Here in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago, Tacoma's arent as commonly seen as most places. So the "wave" is bearable, and acceptable.

I just came back from the coast just west of Portland, OR. If I were to wave at every Tacoma I passed, it would be too much. I would say that at least every 10 cars I passes, was a Tacoma. Some 1st and 3rd gens, but mostly 2nd gens. It was actually quite fun to see them all. Some just plain stock, so slightly modded, others heavily modded.

I still dont think its weird to wave. But depending on location, I can see why people wont commit to waving...

 

I get waves and thumbs up all the time when I take my 65 Galaxie out for a drive. I dont mind. They like what I am driving.

 

Too many tacos around here to start waving.

My other vehicle for the past 20 years has been a '93 MR2 turbo, but since they only brought less than 1,000 gen II MR2s into Canada, I would wave if I could find someone to wave at.

I like having vehicles that are not what everyone is driving, so is it true that the 3rd gen Tacoma TRD OR AC with a M/T is not available in the USA? If so, then: "Only available in Canada you say?...Pity" (with apologies to Red Rose tea and for a joke only Canadians will get).

 

I used to own a Jeep and am familiar with the Jeep wave. I tried to wave a couple of times and got ignored once I had my Tacoma.

However, I saw a Barcelona Red Tacoma that was nearly a mirror image of mine and got a wave back. So now I'll only wave to Barcelona Red

 

The real story here is you have a two hour commute one way. Jesus.
