Securing a motocross, show me how its done.

Use the non ratcheting type. Put the wheel in the corner, loop on the handlebars, prepare to hook on the bed rail so it’s like a V. Lean the bike to one side and pull the strap and hook on one cleat. Pull the bike up straight and hook on the other. Give it a wiggle to make sure it’s not moving too much and then kick the back wheel to the side to close your tailgate and you’re done.

It’s super straightforward.

 

Short bed problems. Not saying they dont work. I just dont like them (non-ratcheting)

 

Cant say i have EVER used a ratchet strap to tie down a moto for its main handle bar points. These are what i use for main tie downs

Yeah never had good clambuckle straps ever move on me... hell even the HF ones i have never move!


What i have seen (and why i went with the rhino straps i linked to in my previous post), is a bike dip down due to a bump or turn in the truck, and an open ended hook comes off what its hooked to, then bike falls down, Rhino straps have the lil "gate" clip so that cant happen on either end... ask me how i know this happens, and ill point to the bowed radiator on my WR450.... oops

 

I actually bought these before i owned my ktm

A buddy was using them and i just liked how they worked. They also have the clip end so they cant come off.

wont work with bark busters/hand guards though

 

Yup wouldnt work on my dirtbike either due to wrap around hand guards. Hell i dont have handle bar real estate for the full width soft ties built into my rhino tie downs... i have to use 1/2in / 5/8ths inch wide climbing webbing loops!

 

A basketball between the wheel and fender works great.

 

Oh lawd.... 20 years of hauling dirtbikes and literally never had one fork seal issue due to hauling im talking 10+ hours strapped down. If your fork seals leak while hauling, your fork seals were already needed to be replaced.

 

Where can I find that bed bar/headache rack?

 

I don't do it to protect the fork seals so much as to firm up the front suspension and secure the bike.

It’s 10000% not needed and you’re putting your bike at a higher risk of tipping over

 

I’ve used a fork support for 15 years and I’ve never blown a fork seal or had a bike fall over. Say what y’all want. The 5 dollar piece of plastic makes me feel better.

I wasted my money on doing the d rings on the front first. It makes the tie down point directly above the handle bar so it’s not very stable.

 

Simple, 5 straps and a $50 dollar motogate. Ride every weekend super solid.
