Exactly. Otherwise the turn signal tells the headlight to put the turn signal on ALL THE TIME (since the DRL is the turn signal on those models and cannot be turned off).

Any models with that stalk. I'd imagine the lowest of the lowest have the least options for lighting.

 

i don't think those stalks are on any 3rd gens. here is a 2016 SR utility pkg (lowest of the low) and it has the ability to turn on and off DRL's (0:36 mark)

so based on what you said, the stalk found on that video shouldn't cause any problems with the headlights and we will get white DRL's?

 

Correct, since it has the "off" option for the factory DRL.

I wonder where that stalk is used if not in any of these trucks since this appears to be a snippet of the stock 3G manual. Bizarre!

that's what i've been confused about the past couple days.

do you know what test vehicle the non-conformity was discovered on or is this the case of an engineer looking at schems and not realizing that 3rd gens don't have that stalk?

 

Not all trim options are US releases.

Perhaps another market prohibits disabling the DRL's.

 

Someone mentioned it to us, and this was the only mention we could find of a third type of DRL configuration. I wonder if the base model Canadian trucks are the outlier here.

 

i think this may be the case.

they're the only country with some semblance of mandatory DRL laws. everywhere else (US, mexico, south america) that tacomas are sold does not.

edit: SR utility pkg aren't available in canada so i'm at a loss for where you can find those headlight stalks
