So then next question. How noticeable do you think it is on 8’ ceilings?

That depends on how particular you are and if it's going to make you or someone else in the house nuts. Skim coat of mud and lightly sand?

The last owner of my house did a horrible job mudding and sanding drywall. It drives me nuts every time i look at at.

Time to look on YouTube for skimming and sanding.

First time doing home repair like this.

The room has all popcorn down now though. You liberally soak this stuff to get it off. My first few swipes I was just listing it, wrong that stuff needs to almost be dripping.

With it on the walls I could see that. With it on the ceiling it makes me wonder. I’ll do my best Bc I’m particular about some things.

I have some bad finishing on my ceilings, and we live with it for now. BUT it does get seen, and bother's me. When I refinish the house, it will be done to the 5th step. https://www.thespruce.com/the-five-levels-of-drywall-finishing-4120152

I have learned it is easier to apply more mud, than to sand the shit out of anything.

You’ll see it, 8’ ceiling, 10’, 12’ you’ll see those marks. Get rid of all the popcorn, and float the entire ceiling with mud and sand it. Proper way to do it at least

They do that to ensure the floor above the joists is perfectly even.

Unless, of course, the hangers aren't... :p
