I'm midway through my Michters American small batch straight whisky and it's pretty darn good. I've got the Limited Release Barrel strength Rye next. Wonder how it compares to your rye...

The American whiskey is good. Makes an amazing old fashioned. Mixed with coke it tastes like vanilla Coke. As for the barrel strength rye... send it over and I'll check :fingerscrossed::D. But if it is just a higher proof variant, it'll be good and you'll enjoy:thumbsup:

I think that American small batch is going to be the next bottle I pick up, between that and the sour mash. I want to start collecting the whole Michters line... maybe look somewhere other than the store next door for the 10yr though.

Okay, so a little misrepresentative as they're all empties.

My buddy had a number of bottles plus some empty boxes, but no room for the boxes anymore (his stash is wicked), so he offloaded them to me. Still trying to think of a project to use them for. I have another 14 or so empties myself. They come apart easily enough, so I can just use the panels if need be. Open to suggestions.

I also picked up a couple of bottles of Elijah Craig from him that was a local single barrel selection. More Dirk love!

I'm with you on wanting to try the whole line. Here, they only have Sour Mash, Rye, and American Whiskey (sometimes). All the Barrel Strength variants, and toasted variants, Plus the 10 year not so much. I think I'll pass on the 20 and 25 year unless I can win one :bananadead::bananadead::spending::spending::spending:

I'm still on building a cold smokehouse, shelf system, or panel the wall with them  Or you liquor cabinet, if it's flat you could recover that?

I'm spending 9 days traveling through southern Utah, visiting Capitol reef, Moab, canyonlands and the maze district. I figured a special trip deserved a special bottle. So I stopped at the state run liquor store in St. George and found this. It's really good stuff. Although a little low proof at 40 something percent. But I prefer a higher proof. Either way this has been a great way to celebrate an amazing trip so far. We will see what happens when we make it into moab.

You could take them apart and build a booker's themed back splash for your bar, or even line the inside wall of your liquor cabinet, or maybe piece them all together into a sign.

Then on the sign... there could be anything. A W.T.F. logo, a portrait, etc. (DICKBUTT!)

Wow that EC! I'm in love!!!

My local TW has zero of any kind of Michters. I didn't realize it was so popular. Luckily the Bevmo price matches, but they have much smaller inventory.

I doubt I will ever want to drop the change for the 20, 25 year or most of the other limited production variants. I will be happy with all the standard bottles and maybe the 10 year bottles if I can find it for a reasonable price. As much as I like nice whiskey spending more than $100-150 on a bottle, even on something to sip and save, is a tough pill to swallow for me.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

It's a bit out of my way, but my buddy works that direction. He's said much the same.

We were out running errands so we swung by TW to see what they had behind the counter.

They pulled out Blanton's and this Japanese whisky. I was going to pass on the Blantons as I already have an unopened bottle, plus I'm kinda over it, but my GF likes the bottle and horse stopper so she offered to pay for half. Can't beat that deal. I've wanted to expand my Japanese collection so I took a chance in this one. Not much out there on it, so we'll see.

Our next stop was Costco. They had the usual stuff but they also had this Heaven Hill sampler for $20. I've been wanting to try the Larceny, EC and EW, plus I love the Pikesville 110 rye, so for $20 it seemed like a win-win! 100ml of each...

Time to clean up and reorg my liquor cabinet. The tequila may have to go elsewhere.

Blanton's is good! Its a reverse whiskey for me...

Starts soft and builds as it goes. Flavors build and some spices and "heat" for the finish that lingers nicely. Really enjoy it

Giant tip of the cap to @Bigdaddy4760 :hattip:

The smell is reminiscent of Irish whiskey and scotch blended? Hard to pinpoint. Very smooth drinker. It is my first toe in the Japanese pond of whiskey. Good starting point if i say so.

I've only had that once; in a Hilo, Hawaii restaurant last year. I was hooked enough to write down the name and when I got home I looked around for a bottle. Man, was I in for a rude awakening! Couldn't find it anywhere but online, where they sell for crazy money. I've occasionally seen it at the small stores around but in the $200 + range. Can't do it. I think you may have spoiled yourself for Japanese whiskies by starting with this one (unless you spend $$$).
