Brake Upgrade: StopTech Rotors + TRD Performance Pads

I know man, sometimes I’ll toss a sarcastic comment in the fire and get a nucklear response back ... I’m excited to try these things they look well made and almost like piece of art in person but yeah they do look huge, I opened the box and was like

 

I've been neglecting my brakes and am wondering what the most logical order is to upgrade my rotors and pads as well as perform a fluid flush.
I'm thinking it would be best to do the fluid flush first and independent of the rotor and pad swap (over a couple weekends); that way I won't be pushing any old fluid back when I retract the caliper pistons.
Does that sound right, or is there any reason to retract the pistons before doing the fluid flush?

 

Install speed bleeders, you only lose a dribble installing the bleeders and you just crack them 1/4 turn before spreading the pistons. No air, no brake fluid being pushed backwards.

It's surprising how much fluid comes out spreading the pistons. It would have to be bad for the abs system if you didn't relieve the pressure.

Those fit behind 16" wheels? I have countersteer type X and the OEM caliper is barely clearing.

The factory brakes last forever (just changed originals at 75 000 miles) but they aren't confidence inspiring.

 

Not installed yet. I’ve been talking to the sos performance guy for a while printed out the template and they should clear the volk 16” rim fingers crossed. He added some shims just in case but I’m not a huge fan of that idea. Rays don’t use the et lugs for some reason so there isn’t that much stud to grab onto to begin with. I’ve not installed yet but they claim an impressive 50% improvement over stock.

 

What wheels are these going behind? If these fit behind my Stealth's I am game...

 

As soon as these get installed I’ll report the outcome guys. I’m running volk. This is as it sits right now wirh oem calipers and recently upgraded rotors. I believe sos performance has a template you can print out and measure your wheel to see if it fits.

 

Gonna need to move those wheel weights !

Gotta give you a huge thanks for pioneering these! Been talking to SOS and got their template looks like my Stealth SR8 should fit! I have about 4 or 5 other tacoma wheels I can test once I get them mounted as well. Dam owning a Tacoma !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

The calipers are certainly a lot LONGER but may still be ok height and width wise.

Either she's gonna be fuckin tight buy!

 

Thx I'll report my findings as soon as I'll have a chance to get the shop install my suspension upgrade. As far as $.. Tell me about it man, I had to make my peace with the fact that that money is forever gone lol....Lots and lots of over time for years to come looks like lol. I work so much and really need to enjoy this thing and hope that all this spending delivers the performance all of these brands claim to deliver. Brakes on these things even in stock form are crappy and with added weight, bigger tires etc I feel like I have to put both of my feet on it to stop. Yeah it's a crap load of $$$ for just the brakes but it's cheaper alternative than not stopping on time or having a brake fade in the mountain roads.
