I'm probably not going to do a rooftop tent. I'm a hammock/ground tent kinda guy. I can pack my tent down and put it in a backpack. Don't do a whole lot of car camping, unless the kids are with us. Most of the time, it's humping it on foot through a National Forest somewhere!

I saw a kayak carrier that you put into your hitch. Looks like it's pretty functional, but totally takes away from your departure angle!

I've gotten 2 kayaks in the back of my truck before. With the truckbox at that! I criss crossed them and rested the front on the my truckbox, and nose was sticking up above my roof. Bungied them down real good and took off! I only went from Fyffe to Guntersville, but it hauled the kayaks pretty good that way. I want something besides a trailer to haul kayaks though...

Probably not. Kayaking is usually a day thing for us. Camping is an overnighter most always.

A roof rack that sits the same height as the bed rack would be the best solution. Like the prinsu racks @TRD Tyler has

Universal permanent and single use permanent are different things. That was my train of thought

If you can’t find a hitch extender that suits you, I can always make one for you to whatever specs you want. Chances are you’ll find something cheaper than what I could build though.

My kayaks are the main reason I have mine. Before, I carried two kayaks inside the camper shell with everything strapped and tied down and it was a PITA.

The full roof rack goes well with the shell for carrying things. I carried a queen mattress and box spring on mine the other day.

Sell it! I think RTTs are just a fad that will fade away, while ground tents and hammocks still sleep folks comfortably!

While i do like ground Tents i like the RTT because it gets me off the ground and makes me feel more secure. It also only takes me 10 min to be packed up and ready to go. I also like the fact that you can get an annex and have a changing area as well.
