    That's an improvement from when I was in school back in the '60s. Most people at my school were just spaced out.

    I like this video best of all the Saturn launch videos. Crank the sound up, skip to 2:00 into the vid. I worked with a guy who grew up in Titusville, and saw all the Saturn V launches. He said they still shook the ground 12 miles away.

    I used to live 50 miles from where they test the space shuttle and other solid rocket motors. They mount the motors horizontally and basically blast the side of a mountain so the sound mostly goes up. It was not uncommon the hear/feel when the tests were run. I am going to see one of those launched someday.

    I lived in JAX during the height of the shuttle launches. Even up there you could hear the roar of the rockets and see the glow.

    I'll never forget the second John Glenn launch in 1998, the highways came to a complete stop with people watching the sky. It was crazy.

    WATCH LIVE: RADARSAT CONSTELLATION MISSION

    SpaceX is targeting Wednesday, June 12 for launch of the RADARSAT Constellation Mission from Space Launch Complex 4E (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The primary launch window opens at 7:17 a.m. PDT, or 14:17 UTC, and closes at 7:30 a.m. PDT, or 14:30 UTC. The satellites will begin deployment approximately 54 minutes after launch. A backup launch window opens on Thursday, June 13 at 7:17 a.m. PDT, or 14:17 UTC, and closes at 7:30 a.m. PDT, or 14:30 UTC.

    Falcon 9’s first stage for this mission previously supported Crew Dragon’s first demonstration mission in March 2019. Following stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage will return to land on SpaceX’s Landing Zone 4 (LZ-4) at Vandenberg Air Force Base.

    I think it's more to the point of saying we did it. Plus, all the technological leaps that have to take place for a manned Mars mission will translate very well into astroid mining/colonization, etc.
