Installed this unit in 2012 and 200 000 km ago. Oil capacity is 8 US Quarts. I use Amsoil SS 0w-30. Oil change interval of 20 000-25 000 Km. Change filters yearly. Zero oil consumption between changes.
    Other mods....
    - LCE Header
    - Oil catch can
230000 km. Original brakes and clutch.
3rd windshield. Another to be installed soon. Rust check cans applied in the fall underneath.
Southern Alberta highway driven to the Crowsnest Pass from Calgary weekly or twice weekly. Gravel and salt on mountain winter roads beat windshields to death and the front of your vehicle in general. Oh well. Get another when this is done.

This extends the Oil drain interval. I use the sample port to obtain a sample and send that to a local lab for analysis. I do this every 2nd to 3rd change at 20000-25000 Km. Always comes back as, “leave in service”.
Is this overkill? Yes. Necessary? Nope. Do I hate doing oil changes every month to two months? Yes!!

Its a secondary oil filter that filters down finer than the regular. The first oil filter is like your standard one that you put on the truck then the oil goes through a secondary finer filter. You have to use an adapter and plumb it up not too hard. I ran this on my old 7.3 powerstroke.

Some benefits are increased oil capacity, increased filter size, some cooling. Remote mount the filters

Why would you do oil changes every 2 months?

You got it. Not as much driven now. I bought this truck to ‘Mile it out’, drive it, get dirty, salty, gravel roads, tow. Not to worry and baby. Is dirty most of the time and I do not worry how it looks. But cheap on gas and Toyota 4 cylinder reliability.

Seems cheaper to just change oil instead of hardware and oil reports

Just an fyi he's only going every 12k miles or so. It's really not that much further than the factory recc. service interval. The biggest benefit is the increased filtering capability by having a larger primary filter and a secondary filter that filters even finer. Also like what I did on my old 7.3 is it's an easy place to tap into and run an oil cooler, on my diesel I ran a thermostat regulated one.

For most people it probably is. But if you drive for a living, "time is money" as they say and his time is probably better spent driving than performing maintenance.

Meh I change oil every 12,500 miles with the cheapest synthetic I can find. Looks like a waste of money to me.

I'm still old school and never bought into the extended oil change intervals no matter synthetic or not. I run Castrol Edge HM and Wix XP filters still changed ever 3k, 5k tops.

How many more summers do you have left to be fuckin’ around working on shit!!
All of it is a waste of time and money but we do it.
Eg: Wheels, lift kits, cat backs (which usually sound shitty) paint, sound system upgrades, LEDs, bypass filtration, ....
